megane 250 remaped today disapointed with low readings what you think?

  1. Those outputs do seem quite low. K-Tec recently mapped mine and it was running 255bhp and 267lb/ft as stock and afterwards it ran 315bhp and 368lb/ft. An increase I was delighted with! I guess that due to them being genuine customer re-maps, that every engine really is different.

  2. you made 60bhp and 100lb from a map? you must have had a lot more work done!

  3. Not trying to slag k-tec off here but if i were you i'd get it checked on an independant RR to check for knock/ afr etc as their mapping ability has been questionable recently (they've destroyed a number of clio 1*2 engines due to poor mapping)

  4. just the map and cat back exhaust system. I was very surprised by the figures!

@jjones82 - I've seen a couple of things posted, so may get it checked out. Is there some sort of common fault/issues occurring with K-Tec maps?

  5. From what i've seen over on cliosport their mapper seems to rush things and produces generally poor maps, with too much ignition / running lean, i think the major problems have been with more custom maps such as for cam shaft changes, but it has resulted in a couple of completely destroyed engines, i think one poor bloke over on cliosport destroyed one engine went back to k-tec to put a new engine in which subsequently went pop again after their work.

Another i read about was running far to much ignition which was causing it to knock badly, paul at RSTuning and k-tec had a bit of a slanging match on FB if i remember correctly.

  6. Fair enough, maybe I'll have it looked at then. They did have to install uprated spark plugs as initially it was misfiring on the first road test. Having completed a few spirited drives since leaving K-Tec, the car does seem to be running fine at the moment.

  7. Uprated spark plugs as in how? they didnt go for a "colder" plug did they? As a colder spark plug can hide issues with poor maps. Mainly lean/ too much advance -cause too high a cylinder temperature causing knock etc which the colder spark plug masks by drawing more heat out of the head!
If it was just an upgrade as in iridium etc but the same heat range that would be better!

  8. I'll have to have go back and find out. Might put a call in.. however I know the part number of the plugs was on the invoice. Will have to look later

  9. I think for a 250 the normal heat range is an 8 so if its higher than that (Higher means colder) i'd certainly look into it
