Help needed...

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by punkrock76, Aug 13, 2014.

  1. Went to start car this morning (250) and for some reason engine sounds more 'throaty' at low revs and definitely feel more vibration through pedals / low down.

Performance is fine....no real change. Just louder and more vibration at low revs.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanx

  2. probably just because the engines cold. vibration might mean that you need new engine mounts. what mileage is it on?

  3. Got just less than 30k on the clock. Thanx

  4. Are they serviceable parts those engine mounts?

Check the lower mount/gearbox bracket hasn't broken. The 250 is a bit of a bugger for this and when it snaps the engine vibrations increase and move thru the car plus the exhaust sounds louder. Thankfully they're not mega common but i've done more than one this year.

  6. Thanx. This seems exactly like the problem. I'll check it out. Appreciated. Difficult to change tho or not ? Big job ?

  7. Turned out to be the gearbox mount bolt had sheared !!! Looking at the bolt it looks like it's either badly designed or is a material issue or bad batch. Thanx for your help

No bother at all and I'm glad it was a simple fix for you. I'll let you do battle with Renault SAS regarding design specifications though hehehe
