Whats the crack with these? Will they go in a standard headlight (one's with optics)? I know as a rule they are supposed to have auto levelling. Or is it best just just get some Osram Nightbreakers or Phillips equivalent?

P.s. go easy on me. I'd have abuse messages on CS by now :tongueout:

  2. Yeah straight fit. I've got a set fitted to my 225.

Cool, any recommendations on a set? I'm not even sure on the lamp fitting on the Megane yet. H7 at a guess?

Am I right in think the front bumper needs to come off for new bulbs?

  5. Gavin.

    Gavin. RSM Admin

They can be accessed through the wheel arch apparently.

  6. Im running a set of 55w 10k HID's, much better than the cheap 35w kits you usually see about. Ive had 3 different sets in the meg and installing a kit is pretty easy. If you need a sort of how-to guide just let me knw.

  7. Where they just an eBay buy, or have you a recommended kit?

  8. Nah front bumper has to come off to fit the kit because the lights need to taken off too. I'll have a look on eBay an see if
I can find the kit I bought.

  9. What like are the 6Ks steven? Are they blueish or are they still slightly yellow?

I see on the kink you posted it says 6k is shallow yellow but i always thought 6Ks were a bit more blue?

just fit 100w Xenon gas bulbs gavin, i can pick them up for a tenner... look like xenons, lighter and alot easier to fit. i had them on TDK in lemans.

  11. Not far off pure white but it still has a very slight blue tinge. Shed loads better than the standard halogens.

  12. Dan

    Dan

So this is just a bulb? Is it any brighter?

  13. Naith

    Naith RSM Admin

brighter than oem yeh and white with blue twinge. the 55w are emarked but not that bright, i use them as high beam, the 100w are not legal but noway near as dazzling as a none projector HID, in a projector they look 100% OEM.

  14. You don't have to take bumper off but its easier if you do as abit arkward to do drivers side with the pipes there. I got my kit from hid direct fantastic improvement I have the 55kw 6000 with the white side lights they look great

  15. 6000k is the nicest colour , slight tint of blue , icy white colour . I had 8000k but they looked too blue

    Here's 6000k

  16. And another one

    6000k

  17. Trying to do it through the arch is just giving yourself hassle. Taking the bumper off makes it a doddle.

  18. 6k looks good, ill need to get myself a set.

Are HIDs hard to fit? Ive never fitted a set before :worried:

  19. Not hard to fit at all. It's initially quite daunting taking the bumper off, but easy once you know how. There's an excellent guide on the old place and also a French video on YouTube which shows you what to do.

  20. Ahright ok then, ill maybe get a set then and get them fitted

    Cheers

  21. The actual fitting and connection is really simple, a small hole needs to be drilled out on the screw cap at back of head light then just pop in and connect job done. Its defo easier with bumper off tho does save hastle and swearing lol

Think I'll go with Naith's suggestion, I did the bumper off thing and mod the headlights on the Clio. I'll keep it standard with some decent bulbs I think.

got cooksport springs on it yet?

  24. Gavin.

    Gavin. RSM Admin

Lol, easy fella  it looks like it's driven through Halfords at the minute :worried:

I'll be down over the weekend, Let me know when.

  25. Naith

    Naith RSM Admin

really, sup with it? i got some LEDs you can have for sidelights so thats sorted, we can debadge the megane in minutes and fit some xenon white lights... job done

Im free all weekend, hope you like changing nappies.

  26. I have had both 5000k and 6000k hid's fitted to mine and prefer the 5000k as they look more oem,

  27. Gavin.

    Gavin. RSM Admin

LOL! Megane is already off, the rest sounds good.

Not liking the arch gap and Halfords alloys but they'll have to do for the minute.

  28. Same. 6000k seemed very blue and didn't want to attract the attention of the cops.

  29. I just looked on my box, as mine are white no blue and I stand correted, mine are 5000k 55w

  30. So are these still illegal with the optics on the meg?

  31. Technically yes. However as long as the beam is correctly aligned and non dazzling and you don't go for 8000k blue bulbs who is ever going to know? Obviously this only applies for projector lenses.

  32. I've got this kit - ebay item #271032908233. 35w 5000 kit as mentioned above I thought the 6000 was a bit too blue. Easy to fit, took around 2 hours from start to finish as I had no idea what I was doing.

  33. Gavin.

    Gavin. RSM Admin

Still toying with the idea, standard bulbs are really dull. I'll try some decent ones first before i go ripping it to bits.

  34. Front bumper does not need to be taken off at all. If you remove the front wheel and inner arch the back of the headlight is in plain view and this also lets you to fasten all wires securely. Its a lot easier than removing front bumper and headlights.

  35. I personally think it's a lot easier to remove the bumper but obviously people have different ways of doing it.

  36. I agree with that one mate

    rich

  37. I agree with the bumper off method too. Allowed me to remove the headlights, give everything a good clean and also saved me contorting my hand through the wheel arch. Again each to their own.

  38. My meg has the xenon lights as standard but im getting sick of the costly prices for bulb changes and the ballast's can i do a straight swap and fit hid's in ?? as passenger side ballast has gone and from renault i got quoted £217! for a new one. and can get a HID kit for £50 or less it makes sense
