New To Renault & R26

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by thestumper, Aug 1, 2014.

  1. Hello all,

Thought I would say hello. I bought an R26 last weekend. Pretty impressed with how well in handles compared to the other recent hot hatches I have owned including a couple of ST’s and a Burg VXR (which handles terrible compared to both the ST and R26). The R26 seems more of a little go kart, which is a good thing. This is my first Renault in over 20 years of driving. Generally more into my fast Fords and Scoobys but the R26 has quite surprised me really. It just needs a good clean, remap, exhaust ect and the alloys will be going back to anthracite. Anyway a few pics of the R26 and a few of my more recent cars.

    Cheers
    Si

  2. Welcome. I can't see pictures for some reason.

  3. Welcome mate, some cracking cars you've had there

  4. Welcome. As above. Do VXR's really handle that bad?

  5. Thanks for the welcome everyone.

The VXR is poor imo mate, mine had a quaife, whiteline RARB and Eibachs and it still wasnt the best. They look great and drive pretty nice but doesn't compare in the handling department with ST's, RS, Scoobys and the R26. The R26 feels so much more planted and direct.

  6. Welcome

  7. Welcome along mate.

The Meganes do handle very well standard. Only thing that lets them down IMHO are the brakes. Obviously this can be improved with some better pads/discs/braided lines/new fluid.

Most people go for re-map as a first performance mod but I would do the brakes. Allows so much more confidence when pushing on, and allows you to use more of the cars ability more of the time.

  8. Thanks for the advice. I will be doing the brake fluid very soon. Might have a look at some new disks/ pads while Im at it.
