What brake fluid do you use? Getting my freshly refurbed calipers back next week and i'm gonna fit them along with braided hoses and CL RC5+ brake pads, only thing left i need to buy is the brake fluid, don't know what to get. Car is a daily but definitely get's abused on track soon!
I use Motul RBF600 too (mostly track use with DS3000 pads and godspeed 330mm discs) its yet to let me down. Remember if you boil your fluid on track with the Megane the clutch pedal will go too !
boiled mime years back first time i took the r26 on track, brake pedal to the floor but used the gears fine driving back to the pits!
Ive used rbf600 660, rf1000, halfords 5.1 halfords racings and this, all did the same job. Got a 2litre can for £20 deliv from ecp i think
Thanks for the input guys, someone mentioned this would be also a very good one http://www.ate-na.com/www/ate_us_en/themes/20_ate_brake_products/brake_fluid/bf_sl6_us.html Anyone has any experience with ATE?
The super blue people talk of is made by ATE ATE super blue .. Dot 4 race fluid , have a look at euro car parts , can get 1litre for around £10 . Used on track by many people with no issues
Thanks again for the input. Think i'm gonna give ATE super blue a try, seems like a good bang for buck
I used RBF600 on track with my 250 after I found the Renault stuff didn't stand up to the trackdays very well. I've just refurbished my calipers myself and have used some Castrol React this time, I think it'll be fine for road use but I'd use the RBF600 without question if I was tracking the car again.
Thouht I'd resurrect this thread instead of starting a new one. I'm going for super blue but do you guys know how much I'll need for my mk2? Will the 1litre be enough for a full flush? Thanks
Yer get 2litres, cheap as chips. good thing if its your first time with blue is you pump until the blue comes through so you know when you are done on each corner.
Castrol SRF React has one of the highest wet boiling points - 270°C from all the fluids on the market, RBF600 has just 216°C...wet boiling point numbers are more important than dry points (if you don't change the fluid right after the trackday), after a while fluid's performance is closer to the wet boiling point learn your stuff guys
I use SRF as well as its the only fluid I have found that will keep a consistent pedal with the race pads I run
I just pop down to my local Halfords and use their racing brake fluid ( not always on the shelf ). £12 for 500ml and it's never let me down in my 172 and megs on track over the years.
I've just purchased ATE super blue aswel, will be more than capable I reckon. It's now superseded by ATE type 200 which is identical fluid just doesn't have the blue dye in it anymore
