My 1st service is coming up and just wondering if anyone can recommend good place to get it serviced. I see Renault in Basingstoke has a RS specialist there, is it worth taking to them or am i likely to get ripped off!?
Go to SMC Aldershot and speak to Karl in parts, tell him you're from here, he should do a good deal. I fell out with basingstoke....
Mine goes to basingstoke. I've found them to be OK - better than Aldershot. I used to take the R27 to Mill-lane (before it was taken over by SMC) and they were a nightmare. Never failed to order the wrong parts first time round Starter motor fitted incorrectly 3 times. Broke my rocker cover trying to fix an oil leak and tried to glue it back with liquid metal. I don't know whether things have changed now SMC have taken over as I haven't been back,
Damn, well hopefully they have sorted themselves out! Ideally SMC would be better as i live in Farnham so a lot closer than B'Stoke!
Martins of basingstoke caused me loads of hassle with my 197, delivered the car back to me with the problem still there, on numerous occasions. As if they didn't do the work. However, SMC did manage to scratch my car when it went in last time for a suspected wheel bearing. They apparently changed the bearing, test drove it, the noise remained so they refitted the old one. They were right in the fact that the noise was from the tyres, but a week later when I serviced my brakes, it was clear that the wheel bearing hadn't been touched at all. I suspect they were adamant it was the tyres and didn't even bother doing the work. When they delivered the car I noticed a scratch, which to their credit, they repaired foc when I went in for my mot a few weeks later. But still not ideal. Especially when I asked them not to wash it!! Now I'm out of warranty I'm not too worried about main dealer servicing. But heard bad things about ktec etc... Maybe I'll just do it myself. Seems no one can look after our pride and joys the way we want them too.
i live in london and take mine to mick at diamond motors. i don't mind the 200 mile trip because mick is proper, decently priced and extremely helpful
Would take a trip down to Rentech in Portsmouth if i was going to travel but would rather stay fairly local to make life easier!
