Alright guys/gals. My R26 has had new shocks, new springs, new top mounts and new bottom arms fitted. I'd like to finish off the rest of the bits to have a complete refresh for peace of mind. I'm looking at inner tie rods, track rod ends, rotation links and droplinks. Are all these items genuine parts only or are some of them available from other sources?
I've recently just done mine too They are all available from a motor factor apart from the inner tie rods. The rotation links were a little more difficult to find. Only TRW do them when I went to order some they had to come from Germany if you can wait the carriage is around £10 plus vat but it is £35 plus for 2 day delivery lol. The TRW number is JTS466. They come with new nuts too but drop links and tie rod ends are easily available in most brands
In that case i'll order inner tie rods and rotation links from Adam and the rest from ECP or similar. Can anyone else confirm this please?
Just checked ECP and it doesnt actually work out much cheaper than what Adam has quoted me... Might just stick to genuine parts... Anything else worth changing at the same time i've missed out?
Blimey ECP aren't cheap on the track rod ends. I've just checked too out of curiosity. You could probably save a few quid on some of the bits, but for what you get for the extra cost it doesn't make it so bad.
Exactly... These are the prices Adam quoted me... Drop links £20.09 each Rotation links £43.07 each Inner tie rods £42.04 each Track rod ends £42.04 each
That's not too bad pal. Aftermarket links won't be much less. I mean I can always check tomorrow how much the tie rod ends and rotation links are, postage won't be much. I'll check them both in TRW. Should be fair bit less than ECP. Can't remember how much less the rotation links were.
I went with Adam when I did mine, as you've found there's isn't much difference in price unless your lucky and catch a ecp sale. You've listed pretty much everything you need, the difference is quite surprising once it's all done. Well worth it.
I am just about to give mine a bit of a suspension refresh too. Have had a set of cooksport springs sitting in my garage since easter and I really want to get them fitted! Got a quote from Adam for new set of shocks all round, inner & outer steering arms, front strut top mounts and I will be replacing the steering rack bush (bought from TFD). Is it worth replacing the drop links and rotation links on an '08 plate with 40k miles at the same time? Or can these be easily replaced without having to strip the whole strut?
Drop links can be done without removing anything (bar the wheel ofc!). Can't comment on the rotation links though..
Depending on how much rust is on them can be done with just wheels off and on a ramp, nothing an angle grinder can't get off. PS if ordering from Adam just make sure you get the nuts (would advise new as the nylon collar will be knackered when you undo) as nothing original comes with them, around £2 each.
