Size of rear discs and an ebay 'disagreement' I need help solving

  1. Hey,

I recently purchased a set of rear discs, with bearings and pads for my 07 reg 225. I was under the impression my car was a lux model as it has heated leathers, but not a cup as the front calipers are grey not red.

Anyways, the discs arrived and are far too small. They are 270mm and looking about I keep finding people disagreeing about diameter size. Some are saying all are 300mm and that there are two bearing sizes and others are insisting that regular Megane rear discs will do the job... mine measure around 300mm.

Obviously I am trying to return these discs and get a refund or replacement part, as they were advertised as fitting my car and Megane 225 sports in general (in fairness I should have measured the diameter before ordering, but the add inspired confidence). The chap has replied to my request asking for the reg and saying that after he inquired about my car he has found my car has the 'drilled extreme cup brake setup' which costs £249.99! I can see other 300mm setups going for more like £150...

Can someone please help... my head hurts.

    Cheers, James

Did the advert state the discs were 270mm?

Surely if you haven't fitted them and return in original packaging he'll offer a refund.

  3. Yeah it did, so that was why I was concerned he'd try and get out of it, especially as I purchased them just over a month ago and eBay only offer a refund policy for the first 30 days.

That said, they are unused and in original packing so if I post them he should just accept it - he's a business seller and should deal with things like this all the time....

    Cheers, James

So does anyone know if ALL Megane sports use 300mm rear discs?

  4. Yeah - all Megane 225/230 have 300mm rear discs. Difference is only in bearing size

  5. Thanks, I've found a number for them and rang them to discuss it. They said just send it back and we'll refund which is fair enough. I've just ordered some from a place called autostores for £60 odd per disc, plus pads. It's starting to stack up a bit with car tax due this month on top...

Anyone remember how much they paid for rear discs and pads - I think I'm looking at somewhere around £150 ish quid all in, if that sounds right?

    Cheers, James

Do you have a link for the autostores place?

I need to replace mine, and that's a lot cheaper than what I have been quoted elsewhere.

  7. People tend to use OEM rear discs even though their a bit more expensive as the rear discs have the bearings pressed in, and cheaper ones can go bad sooner
