265 Pops and bangs...

  1. Would be interested to hear your thoughts... I always use the same fuel from the same petrol station but over the past month I've noticed my car doesn't make anywhere near as many pops and bangs. The only thing that's changed on the car is that I put in a pipercross panel filter... Could this possibility have this impact?

My other thought was, given how hot it has been recently would that have an impact? Would a colder outside temperature with a hot exhaust produce more pops and bangs?

Just thinking out loud... I miss the noises :worried:

  2. Mine doesn't make any pops and bangs at all, but I don't mind as my daughter often sleeps at the rear seat

  3. Its the ambient temps mate, my 265 is the same. Go out, thrash it for 5mins, get the exhaust super hot and it will start popping like mad again. I did it tonight  go out later at night when it cools down so you can stop worrying lol

my old r26 was the same, in winter it popped loads more when it was cold not so much in summer/heat.

  4. Had a feeling it was the temperature, but wasn't sure of the ins and outs of that scientifically lol, good to know it hasn't lost them for good

  5. Get the centre silencer cut out, it will do it more often

  6. It usually does it quite a lot anyway... But I've been considering that too, are the pops and bangs louder with it done?

  7. Anyone? Mine does pop and bang a fair bit as standard, does the centre box removal jsut make them more aggressive?

  8. Alot easier to pop, can be louder at time, abit more gargling that you cant hear from inside the car.

  9. http://youtu.be/NOr_MRNuCFw 265 after the mid box chop.. inside noise hasn't changed much but what comes outta the pipe is damn cool, akrapovic my assss..)

  11. I was thinking to do the same

  12. Oh that does sound really good, think I am sold on this idea

  13. Anyone got a photo of the standard exhaust so I can show the guys what part to remove... I don't like leaving things to chance lol

  14. Is this it on the left?

  15. Yup. The big middle bit. Or you can remove the backbox which is common on the r26 (i loved mine)

youtube 265 backbox chop you get the idea

  16. This doesn't have any impact at all on the emissions etc for mot does it? Everything is still ok because the CAT remains, right?

  17. Doesnt effect the emissions

  18. My standard 250 doesn't pop or bang at all...

  19. It will, you either cant hear it, or its the way you drive, does it more with the centre box removed.

  20. I must be deaf then.. Tried to thrash it today with both windows down, still nothing...

  21. I'm looking to get mine done very soon. So which is louder and more pops, middle or back box chop they both sound the same in the videos? Or is it a case of get 1 removed see if I like it if not get the other removed.

  24. The last one was when I first put it on. Has got loads better since then.

  25. Another question, Whoever's had it done does your Mrs moan about how loud it is?

  26. Not that much louder from inside the car.

  27. Mine is standard and pops all the time but only when changing gear at fairly low rpm, going to guess ~3000-4000rpm, it won't pop at a high rpm gear change.
