I'm stuck between a Lotus Exige or a Cayman S.. Thing is a really enjoy living with the Megged Clio. I have always said the next car I get will have to be full of awesome sauce out the box so I don't need to mod it but I know that after 6-12 months id be looking at Audi engines for the Lotus and GT3 lumps for Porsche.. lol
Cayman S, Exige or an M3 of some sort, Next year i will be saying bye to the Megane for one of those.
my megane will be up for sale in about 6mnths as my millage will drop to about 2-4k per year. I haven't 100% decided with what to replace it with. Its either the new shape elise s, S2 exige S or evora. All are about the same price so will decide then.
For myself itd be an S1 Elise, S2 Exige (Though Id love an S1) or a Caterham. I cant justify them just now though as I only do 2-3k a year in the Megane so it serves its purpose well.
Yep, just got to find the right one and do some more home work mate, oh yeh and tell the accountant lol
Yeah I wouldn't rush mate, you'll know when you find the right one. The Megane does tick a lot of boxes and doesn't really cost a great deal to maintain. If I was to look at a different car, I'd give the wife the Megane. I just wouldn't know what to replace it with.
ive never owned a ford yet and love the way the 80s and 90s rs and xr fords hold there money well. but id love an rs focus, just on the mad look and road presence it has..
Think I'll be keeping the R Jacob, will be good to do a few track days when the kids pass their driving test and upto now it's not lost a penny from when I bought it.
http://www.rsmegane.com/showthread.php?2745-What-if-not-Megane-RS It is interesting if people don't change their mind
Yeah I fell in love with it instantly and as a result of me still not liking the facelift mk3 meg it has got me thinking. I'm dubious that the spoiler and rear lights will look like that and the 4 tail pipes may reduce to 2 but even if the rest is exactly like this itll take a miracle to stop me. Depends what performance is like, Honda promise at least 280bhp.
I agree with @Ciarn4415 and have zero aspirations to have a supercar or wanker-car (Audi, BMW, Etc... you know who "they" are) on my driveway which is why I love Renaults. I'm actually considering a Laguna Coupe next but I am also wanting to look at the Alfa's again as I had a 147 and it was brilliant!
I'd swap mine for an e46 M3 I think. Not sure if I fancy the cab or coupé though.just for the noise ;-)
Several of my Friends have M3 Fast Road or Track/race cars and they are anything but snobs. So yeah, Much snob there eh? You obviously know/have met the wrong group of BMW etc drivers if you think they are snobs, Much could be said for a lot of here albeit Renaultsport Snobs.
@Jamie - it is not about BMW drivers, they may be good or bad people. It is about you having LOL about Ciaran's "aspirations". Let face the fact: spending £15-25k on Meg mk3 RS, most of us here could buy proper "prestige" car. For some reason we have chosen to purchase Renault. Hope you get it (my point, and e36 M3 one day too).
An exige........But couldn't bare to lose the .R, so bought an Elise instead. Think after bank accounts recovered, we'll be looking at a new house (as a single width drive and 4 cars is horrible), and then a 172 phase 1 in mint standard condition. Even if I won the lottery, I have no interest in Fezzers/Lambos..........
I really would not know what other car to have as i hate saloon cars and soft tops ( for girls) maybe a Type R
The Megs actually grown on me a bit more recently, the boot space is a bit shite because of the entry but in comparison to competitors the looks of it are somewhat more reserved (somewhat) than say the Focus RS and even the ST with it's gaping mouth. It's pretty comfy too, even if the right is a bit stiff and the front end can feel a little unsettled on some of the crap roads around here... Only thing is I wish it was RWD or maybe even AWD if the balance was right (hate under steer), I don't fit in the Lotus' sadly and few of the German brands make anything that inspires me despite willingly acknowledging many of them to be competent and potentially fun cars. If I were pushed though I'd be very tempted with a Cayman (not an R, but not a bogo spec one either) of some kind, but don't know if I'd find one to be as versatile as the Meg.
I'd be aiming for a Megane 265 as the replacement for my 225 Trophy as that's my daily car so don't want anything too extreme or that the little'un can't fit in. Also, for a daily car I'm not sure I'd want anything necessarily quicker than my 225, with the re-map I find it can be a handful as it is anyway so a newer RS Megane is ideal.
Can't believe no one has mentioned a golf r32 yet. Thinking that's what il go for if I decide to change the r26
Thats what I want to change to now! Don't care if they're slower etc but that sound!!! Have to wait until new year though when insurance is due and no claims increase blue 3 door dsg for me
