I'm looking to swap my forge dump valve kit for a forge recirc kit? Want a difference in sound some chatter. Kit consists of dump valve, tpiece, and blanking plate all forge. Let me know.
i dont think hick you get chatter from a recirc kit, it wants the same way as your dump valve but you don't hear the vent, might be wrong but every recirc valve I've fitted is quite.
thats ts what I think too, or just take the vac pipe off the dump valve and blank it off, leave the dump valve in the t piece, that will give the chatter.
Yea but the chatter noise is compressor stall, can't have one without the other. Im not that clued up on dump valves but if you remove the top boost pipe off the valve will it not leak boost as it equalises boost either side of the piston to keep it shut?
haha.. alright.. just couldn't imagine anybody wanting the chatter so much, they'd be willing to accept/risk stall ;-)
You have to block the vac tube from the top of the dump valve or kink it and cable tie it not just remove it. Keeps the valve closed then so you get the chatter without removing the dumpvalve its effectively not there if the vac pipe is blocked as it cant open. If you were clever you could get an electric solenoid to open/ block the vac pipe so you can have chatter or whoosh at the press of a button depending on mood, i swear theirs a thread on here with that in
Yeah i know what you mean it would be the extra lag between shifts i wouldn't want to deal with! Although the consensus seems to be that it "shouldn't" cause any damage as theres not enough pressure to damage the turbo vains etc, some people have been running that kind of setup for a couple of years with no adverse effects, it is a damn sexy noise though, as when i first uploaded my stage 1 map i had compressor stall for the first 10-15 mins as the ECU adapted to the extra pressure from the turbo, although i wouldn't want to risk any extra wear etc myself by running it all the time
There's no noticeable lag, I've had Megane RS's both with and without. There's no danger of damage either, it's been gone over on the forums time and again. It's just a different sound.
No lag? I'm surprised tbh as i've seen users complain about a dump valve creating more lag over the OEM recirc, so I thought the fact the compressor is slowing/stalling it would make it more laggy as you have to get the compressor back up to speed. Although i've never tried it myself, the people complaining could have had leaky valves i suppose. No i understand unless your running a true monster with substantially more boost there won't be any damage (i.e. a blade snapping off etc) but it surely puts extra stain on the turbo bearings?
Could just an electronic boost control solenoid that will work a treat or go easy route and pipe in a manual one same effect.
