The Seat was also using PSC2's, No Aircon and a performance pack that you can't actually buy. So hardly a normal specced everyday hatchback Don't be surprised if Seat do go out and take back the record though, Could be an interesting few weeks over in Nurburg
Except its not. The one that did the lap had all sorts of non standard mods. You cant buy it at the dealership in that spec.
Does anyone know if Renault published a time for the 275 Trophy? Be interesting to see the difference in time between the two new models.
Of course there is. Another manufacturer will beat it and Renault will go straight back out and claim the record back.
Still has a full interior and road friendly suspension though, whether it had air con or not is, to me, just a technicality. As I said 3 seconds around brands hatch would be a substantial lead over Seat, but around the 12.5 mile ring it's nothing, to be precise that's 0.24 seconds a mile quicker!
Its an average of 94.9367 mph over 12.5mph which is impressive. To get a time of 7:48 you need to go 2mph faster round the entire circuit. Its not easy!
http://www.garagedesblogs.com/essai/renault-megane-r-s-275-trophy-r-fiche-technique/ Decent video with the rs boys. Subtitled at the bottom!
http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/2..._trophyr_reclaims_nurburgring_fwd_record.html cool photos on evo's page. it is super cool. i wonder what the difference will be between sport and race modes? Super sharp throttle and more fueling for more pops and bangs?
I didn't like that joke anyway. RK came from different motorsport discipline. He has started nearly from "zero", with no experience in world rally, with no ideas about co-pilot role and lets face the fact: being impaired. His first year in WRC: quite bad beginning but then strong end of the season and Championship in WRC2 with DS3 RRC (against Evans, now factory M-Sport driver). Season 2014 it is again starting from beginning, learning new for him Fiesta WRC, new co-pilot, new rallies. He said he has to drive on a limit to learn, so he will be having accidents. RK said that he needs to know his limits and his goals for WRC are high. He doesn't wanna drive slow, avoid trouble and score small points for 10th place in every rally. I keep my thumb for him as he is really strong character and very good driver.
People always find it hard moving into rallying it's so unpredictable and I don't think they are prepared enough for the difficulty but if he's willing to stick at it and keep learning then let's see how he goes
I also agree, Renault have gone and achieved something great here and put their car up there with some of the most prestigious performance, super and hyper cars in the world. They have equalled or beaten cars with twice the power and four times the price tag. It's clear the RS team and their partners from michelin, arkrapovic, ohlins etc have put hard work, passion and development into the car so why shouldn't they charge 36k.
I think your opinion of how valid the Seat's lap was, is directly linked to how many laps you, yourself have driven.
I disagree. This is nothing to do with my limited knowledge of the track, I merely stated that 3 seconds over the length of the ring is not a significant amount and when you compare the cars setups I think the Seat deserves more credit. Unfortunately I'm preaching to the Renaultsport massive who claim all other hatchbacks, experience with them or not, are shit in comparison.
On a different subject the Ohlins kit will only be available from Renault initially. My source believes they will only be selling it as an option on the 275 and not retail for retro fit.. we'll see about that.. lol
When Ohlins say they are adjustable- is that at the press of a button inside the cabin or manual on each corner
Remember there is the 275 ohlins with steel springs and .R ohlins with the fancy epoxy ones. 5.8, top speed stays the same 158. I've read conflicting things. seems on the trophy they are saying manual adjustment on each corner on the .R they are saying remotely done from inside the car
Here you go.... For the 275.R DFV (Dual Flow Valve) Road&Track Ohlins dampers (with remote clicker adjuster using a knob on the lower part of the instrument cluster) adjustable by 20 steps at the front and 30 at the rear. Renaultsport will suggest damper settings on its website for different circumstances, including the ones it used on the Trophy-R’s record run on the Nordschleife for trophy For £2,000 Renaultsport will factory fit fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension (although you’ll have to get you hands dirty and change each corner manually)
According to Jeremy Townsend at RenaultSport that info about being able to change the settings from inside the car is incorrect.
If the .R has a remote adjust inside then great but if you have to get your hands dirty to adjust the "road going" trophy are we talking about taking it to a garage to adjust it or is it easy enough to do yourself. Also are we talking about a quick job or a 2 hour job marathon.
Probably means the driver can shout instructions from inside the car whilst twiddling a dial and a mechanic outside gets HIS hands dirty.
Mate who has coilies on his 200 had just stick his hand through the arch takes 5mins so easy enough to switch from road to track setup
Be interested to know how quickly Renault shift these. Looking at the PH thread a couple of people have paid deposits of £5k already, I can see them all going before delivery in Oct.
Yes, you were right. Sorry ( smart arse ) Looks a great bit of kit but its a bit out of my price range and I still don't like the shape of the MK3. Besides the original is always the best
Yer agreed re price but price aside, what a car eh! Whoever buys one, I want a ride! ps rob we will have to sort a meet soon for a little blast
