So I'm skipping the Lotus Exige and TVR Griffith/Tuscan which I want badly but are a bit too attainable for a money-no-object collection...

For early morning B-road blasts and track use: BAC Mono

An achingly beautiful, historic racer: Aston DBR1, Jag D-Type or Ferrari 625TRC (but which???)

The definitive modern(ish) supercar: McLaren F1

I don't think any of the new "hyper cars" would get into my top 3.

 

Those historic racers are stunning. Definitely on my euromillions list to own something like that. Maybe a D-type. I think 3 is too restrictive anyway. Needs to be a minimum of 5!

Awesome car and certainly a top 3 contender, but the Macca F1 GTR still pips it for me due to it's compact size and visiblity making it so much more usable on British B roads (apparently - sadly I can't speak from experience).

Then again, if money was no object, I guess I'd have my own private circuit to drive it on!?

 

Haha. Blame it on being bored at work! I just think the Ferrari has more soul, a massive cliche I know. Although from everything I've read its massively compromised and a definite old school drive! Still fancy a go though.

 

I know what you mean. I'm not sure i feel the same way about modern Fezzas, but the F40 definitely has soul and authentic pedigree. Mind you, the F1 has proper Le Mans credibility and I think the insane attention to detail, race car interior, and that engine give it soul aplenty for me - way more than the 12C (and probably more than the P1 too). Oh yeah, and it's British so it would look good alongside my DBR1

 

Good points. I would certainly love to be in the position to be making the decision between the two! I think the 12c appears bereft of any kind of character at all, whilst the new P1 positively exudes it! Wonder why there's such a difference in the approach to them both?
