Had a service not so long ago... Roughly about 2/3 months ago, my car is a 2004 rs megane. Starting the car today it has popped up saying top up oil level and checked the stick and is above the minimum but slowly getting to the point of being the min level!! I have checked under the car and obv places and no sign of any oil leak? is it normal for these cars to go through this much oil as quick as it has?! help would be appreciated!!!
From max mark to min on the dipstick is usually a litre ( industry std ) so going by that your cars losing a litre of oil every threes months, this is assuming the garage who serviced the car correctly filled the engine to the max level? I would consider this to be excessive. If there isn't any leaks, by that I assume you've done a thorough check including removal of engine tray and inspection bottom side, then perhaps your turbo is leaking? Check the intake pipework post turbo for excessive oil deposits?
Had another look, the intake pipe has oil in there but not too much and looks normal, done another check under the car and seems fine also. So could be a dodgy sensor?
I don't want to start new thread, so I will ask here. I had a service done 3 months/3k miles ago. I noticed that engine oil level in my car dropped. Now 2 bars on a dashboard gauge are empty. I checked on a dipstick and it is closer to minimum level. Should I start be worried about it? Or maybe it is typical for Renaultsport models?
My car does it as we'll I guess the fully synthetic is very light and it burns a bit faster the other non fully oils ??
I've had my 265 since December (from New) done 4500 miles and it's used 3/4 of a litre of oil so far. Pretty normal that they burn a little oil tbh. My Clio 200 went through just over a litre every 10k.
Ill have to check mine then. Last time i checked it was still on full and ive had mine since august i think
Cheers Mike! Mine needed about a third of a litre. To be fair its prob been 2 months now since i checked it, forget how fast time goes by
I will go to Renault to check for peace of mind. I know that I go over the top sometimes, but it really annoys me.
