  1. Hi guys, i have used comparison websites but I know of a lot of websites that don't show up on these and can be cheaper.

I have just bought a megane 225 and would love to save money on my insurance and the current quote is over double my last car with the same company.

Any recommendations? I am currently with Admiral for info.

  2. My lad was 18 and paid £6k with the intrest as a named driver, good luck! He is paying £300 a month now on a 197 T,P,F,T

  3. I ended up with privilege, was with admiral and saved £400

  5. were either of yours on comparison sites?

  6. Kin hell he must have a cany job mate

  7. I'd rather catch the bus than pay £6k on insurance!

  8. I am actually with Octagon. Check their website. When I was younger for first 3 years I was with Tesco Insurance. They were significantly cheaper.
Another option is Renault UK Insurance. When I was buying car 3 months ago, they quoted me for £ 770 fully comprehensive, plus 10% discount if paid in one go.

  9. I got a quote earlier on my R26, FC, all mods declared for £567. Im 24, 4yrs ncb and 5yrs exp.

  10. Haha same! 6k is ridiculous!

thanks mate ill give that a try

  12. I'm in the RAF and couldn't pay 6k for insurance!

Im 23 and pay £540 for my RS250 with all mods declared and track day cover

  15. I'm 27 and pay 300 FCC on r26

  16. You pay very low insurance guys. 300-500 GBP it is shocking for me. I pay now about 800. Probably my "lovely" postcode SL1 makes huge difference.

I pay 600 for mine with mods declared and wife insured for business use.

  18. For my Abarth and megane it cost £800 for both. All mods declared.

  19. Declaring mods is a waste of money I think.

  20. It's just safer. I got caught with an undeclared engine once. Should if been a 1.4 zr was a 350bhp 2.0t never again.

Hardly. For one it means your insurance is actually valid.

Not declaring mods is pretty pikey I think......

  22. Im just doing my renewal it was £650 last year and managed to get it £780 this year as I had a claim. Still got two years no claims and 5 years experience. And I am 22. I am with elephant and admiral quoted less. As they are the same company they matched the £780 so not too bad.

Jamie yours is pretty cheap including track day cover! Who is that from?

    +1

People not declaring stuff is part of the reason why others pay more.........

  24. Elephant always seams to be cheapest for me at 19.

  25. mine is £300 all mods declared (for the first time) yes its wrong but when the price of insurance is what it is trying to save a few quid on it helps i can see where he is coming from but i would declare all mine in the future. If your young and declare all mods most cheap places wont touch you so you end up going back to them and not saying awt! my 2p worth. John.

i was expecting you to say you binned it and they found it but being pulled and the coppers finding outs even more surprising lol

  31. That's the kinda thing I'd do lol 20 l on a 1.2 logbook what happened to you for it

  32. They stopped me asked me to pop the bonnet did a check on it and it was registered as a 1.4 i said it was insured as a 2.0t and they rang my insurance company they said it wasnt. The insurance company said they would still insure me for the day i then cancelled the insurance and sold the car. Was really lucky to be fair

  33. I would recommend sky insurance mate, I've been with them for a year and a half now and they was the cheapest when I was 24 and are still the cheapest now I'm 25, I think you can get a discount for being a forum member too?

  34. Ps. my premium was £800 last year, it's now gone down to £400

  35. Mine is £490 with all mods declared, was £320 without.

I'm 26 with 6years NCB with Green light.

  36. I pay £600 and something a year for my R26 but my excess is quite high at like £800? That's with elephant, are people putting high excess to get these low prices..??

    I'm 22!

  37. Mine is around 600 with admiral im 22

  38. I'm 21 years old and is £1700 with admiral but have no no claims and a fault accident ... :/

  39. £870 on R26.R, Megane 1.5dci and a clio 1.5dci, with my missus.

I was 24 at the time.

Had to declare roll cage, exhaust, tyres, climate control and folding mirrors!

  40. Some cops are wise to this and discover many 'mis' insured cars on the road.

The kindest thing they can do is exactly what happened to you; if you didn't cancel the policy, then the insurers refer it to their fraud depts; usually resulting in the policy then being voided.

I think there is a direct correlation between drivers that don't bother to correctly insure their modified cars, and their unique ability to attract Police attention!
