I originally started this thread over on Detailing World, after I detailed my 250 when I got, but thought I'd migrate it over to here instead. I'm sure one or two have already seen this thread already but hopefully it is still of some interest to others. I won't post all of the detail images here as there are quite a few, but the full process can be seen here. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=331380 This is my Megane Renaultsport 250 Cup, I bought it back in November 2013. After selling My 2005 Trophy, I was on the look out for a good spec 250 Cup: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=323316 Steve Coulter @ Allvehicles http://www.allvehicles.co.uk/index.php found this car for me, a 2010 Oyster Grey Cup, with Recaro interior. Steve is a great guy and having found the car, passed it onto me charging a very reasonable brokers fee, he even organised delivery to my home. Car was in good condition, but having been driven from Ipswich to London in terrible weather it was absolutely filthy! Auto Finesse products mainly used for the detail, left it looking like this. Interior all finished And some afters, not the greatest pics in the world but here goes…. In the garage after waxing some shots outside….. In the winter sun And lastly a couple in the underground car park
A couple of things to keep it looking nice, an Aqua Gleam water filter from Polished Bliss for rinsing the car after washing, no more water spots! A Raceglaze door protector, fits nicely to the garage wall to protect the door when getting out the car in the garage. I also got a new reg, black gel resin 3D number plates all made up ready I got some new style RS centre caps, these were also sealed with Mint Rims before fitting I also got some wheel bolt covers on ebay, a cheap and simple way to cover the scruffy, rusting bolts. much better, just need the black locking wheel nuts now!
New Renaultsport gearknob, really like this, feels a lot nicer when shifting... Decided to de-badge the rear, it has been a subject of debate on the forums and now I've finally done it, I'm happy with the results, gives the car a cleaner look at the back I think. Letters came off quite easily in the end, just needed heating up with a hairdryer and then carefully pulled off. Any remaining adhesive removed with Auto Finesse Oblitarate All done
A bit of an update, nothing major, just a few bits and bobs…. Fist of all the engine cover, had it painted on my previous Megane, but had seen a carbon one which looked fantastic. Unfortunately the real carbon fibre cover was over £300, so I decided to get it carbon fibre 'dipped' instead. Very pleased with the results and a lot cheaper at £80, a great job done by http://www.hydro-graffix.co.uk/ Before I fitted the cover back on I thought it would be a good opportunity to clean up a few parts under the bonnet. Used Auto Finesse Mercury for some of the metal parts Before Looking better…. Finally another quick coat of Dressle before re-fitting the engine cover Cover back on I then decided that the sticker was a bit OTT, so fitted a smaller one…. Next up some new wiper blades I went for Michelin Stealth, very happy, so much better than the standard blades and look nicer too. Next up, new number plates fitted. First I gave behind the plates a good clean with Citrus Power to make sure the surface was nice and clean, ready for fitting. Number plates given a coat of AF Tough Coat before fitting Then stuck on using sticky pads
Battery cover and fuse box cover carbon dipped to match I've also bought some black wheel bolts and matching black locking nuts…. The plastic covers work well but thought the nuts looked a lot nicer, must get round to fitting them now!
Saw a couple of threads on here where people had changed their interior bulbs to LED bulbs, so i ordered some on ebay and changed them all. A very cheap and simple change but really does make a difference, gone is the yellowish light of the standard bulbs, now a much brighter, more modern white light. bulbs all ready A standard bulb and an LED LEDs simply replace standard bulbs Door lights before and after Not the best pics in the world but does show how much brighter/whiter the LEDs are. I did all interior lights and also the rear numberplate lights as well.
Had a Brodit phone holder in my 3 previous Mk2 Megane Renaultsports, but I didn't like the fitting in the Mk3, too big and bulky and looked a bit ugly IMHO. So bought a Kenu Airframe instead
Hello mate... Fantastic car and attention to detail just as good. Gonna have to buy a Kenu Airframe holder now lol but £18
Cheers mate, appreciate your comments, your car is just as good mate, glad to see you are keeping it (for now!) I know the Kanu isn't cheap, but I've tried loads and this is by far the best.
lol, thanks mate, funny you should say that, I actually enjoy doing it, just started doing a few friends and families cars at the weekends, would quite like to a bit of detailing on the side, need to keep practicing with the mating polishing though…. Would definitely enjoy working an R26.R, special car
Lovely car, and as everyone says the attention to detail is brilliant. Would you recommend the Raceglaze door protector? My garage is really narrow so it looks like just the thing I need.
Cheers mate. Yes, would definitely recommend the Raceglaze door protector, it's brilliant, just peel of the backing and stick it into position, certainly looks a lot better than a bit of old carpet stuck on the wall!
Thanks. It definitely looks the part going by the pictures. I'm seeing it online for £23, did you find it any cheaper? Also, with the aqua gleam filter is it just a case of hosing the car down and then leaving it to dry? I hate having to pat dry the car.
Sounds about right for the door protector, think it's only available from their own website from what I can remember. That's exactly right with the Aqua Gleam filter mate, I do a final rinse with an open flow from the hose (as opposed to a spray), although I do use the metro blaster sidekick to give it a quick once over as well….
I guess you used a different bulb for the glove compartment as that seemed a different fitting from all the interior and side lights, I found a festoon fitting on mine, pain getting to the bulb as well
Combe76, as mine is a Cup, there isn't a light in the glove box, that extra weight saving makes all the difference you know lol
Ha ha, mine is up on the top left side of the glove box, changed mine over for LED's like your and that bulb was completely different and also required the glove box out completely for it to be changed over, a pain in the arse. Car looks superb though mate esp the engine cover. Want to do something similiar in red and black carbon via hydro but my cover is a bit scratched up so on the look out for a cheap one as Renault wanted 132!
Cheers mate, if I find the light bulb, think I'm better if leaving it by the sounds of it lol hopefully a cover will turn up on eBay or one of the forums soon....
For the additional light it provided it was hardly worth it, the other interior lights though are well worth doing much better than the oem dull versions as you'll no doubt agree with.
Sorry mate, just seen this, link below anyway just in case you need it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190917844645&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 Also just saw your note about the engine cover on the other thread, best bet is to drop Adrian at Hydro-Graffix and see what he thinks, did a good job with mine and fast turnaround too. adrian@hydro-graffix.co.uk
Arrrggh I never even knew this was a thing until now, how have i missed out for so long!? I need one in my life!
Car looks ace, and nice thread. Must admit I didn't like the Mk3 when they came out, but they really are growing on me now.
Cheers mate, I know what you mean, I had 3 Mk2's before this (including a GW R26 ) but I absolutely love the 250, definitely feels like a step up
Doing nights this week, so decided to do a bit more cleaning, yes, I'm obsessed lol  The more I've got into detailing, I've come to realise that the more time spent prepping the car before waxing or sealing, the better the result. It wasn't that dirty really, but I still spent a bit of time decontaminating (Iron Out followed by Tardis) and claying etc. I followed this with a quick one stage on the DA, Auto Finesse Rejuvenate using a Supreme finishing pad. As summer is coming, went straight for a couple of coats of AF Illusion, not the best for durability but does give a lovely finish. P***ing down today, so just a couple of pics in the garage
Quick update Trip to R-Sport this week I decided that I'm going to change the oil every 6 months and after much deliberation I went for Millers Nanodrive CFS 5w-40 NT fully synthetic. [h=1]http://www.millersoils.co.uk/nanodrive.asp[/h]I spoke to the guys at Opie oils, who were very helpful indeed and as my car is out of warranty now I didn't specifically have to go with a Renault spec oil (RN0710). If I wanted the absolute very best, an 'ester' based fully synthetic oil was recommended. Certainly not cheap, but a discount from Opie made it a little more bearable, I ordered 6 litres as officially it should take 5.4 litres to fill up, but it actually took all 6 litres to get to the correct level…. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-73732-millers-oils-nanodrive-cfs-5w-40-nt-full-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx I had also ordered new front and rear pads from Ads on here (great price!), so had them fitted, along with new pins. While the wheels were off it was a good time to finally fit the black wheel bolts I ordered from TPI a couple of months ago. Old rusty bolts New bolts fitted, very happy, make a real difference to the look of the wheels, much improved car all ready for me when I returned the next day, parked up next to R-Sport's Renaultsport truck  With my OCD getting worse by the day, I then decided I'd give the arches a bit of a clean I didn't have time to take the wheels off, so jacked the car up to give myself a bit more space and gave them a good scrub with Auto Finesse Citrus power using some brushes and an old mitt. Once dry I treated each arch to a good coating of of Auto Finesse Dressle.
Always good to keep one's service history and receipts etc. in order  So while I had a spare few mins at work, I made myself a folder to keep everything together….
