250 rods and pistons

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Stiggy, Apr 27, 2014.

  1. Looking at fitting these to my R26 engine with the ultimate aim to run 300bhp maybe more. What advantage would I have fitting 250 rods and pistons over standard parts. I would be upgrading the rod bolts anyway. Would 300 be ok or could I push for more later on. Don't want to go down the forge route.

  2. Any ideas guys?

  3. The 250 Rods and pistons are a lot stronger than the R26 ones. They'll fit straight in and with other mods you Could see 360bhp out of them.

This was something I've been considering too

  4. Nice. How much would you expect to pay for the 250 rods and pistons? Got some lined up but seem pricy

  5. Not sure. I've never seen any for sale tbh

  6. For the availabilty of the parts and HP for £ it must be about on part with going forged ?

  7. What if I could get pistons and rods for 350?

  8. Then I think I'd be interested too at that amount of pennies!

  9. id be interested too..

  10. I could be ...

What else is required though ?

    Markblack@MRS RSM Trader

£200-£300 of parts on top plus labour to fit it all

  12. thought they only got that power because of the slightly different engine, compression + vvt

  13. Compression is lower , head is different , turbo bigger ..

  14. Definitely stronger rods and as Andy says lower compression, a head very similar to the 200, different inlet and throttle body and different turbo internals (same as evo so I was told)
