Alternative speakers?

  1. Ok, so I'm really looking to replace the speakers in my 225 are the Pioneer TS-Q131C components the only model that will fit in a Megane II??

Has anyone successfully fitted alternative speakers? The Pioneers have been discontinued although can be found in various places online. Just wondered if anyone had gone down a different route with their speakers.

  2. I'm interested too. I think the speakers in my R26 are shite.

  3. Well I'm meant to have the stereo upgrade in the Trophy but I think it must just be the head unit as looking at the speakers last night, they look pretty pony.

  4. Aaah that's interesting. I've had to modify the clips on speakers before and lest be honest they can be held in place with 2-3 screws without issue.

Did you have to snip the wires and connect them differently?

  5. Yes theyre just basic wide and thin connections on the speakers but the diffence in sound is well worth the snip, I'm a bit OCD when it comes to car stereo anyway lo, I like a nice noise ha ha

  6. Nice one, thanks mate. To be honest if you fit connectors to the wires it's easy to attach different ones should you want too.

I definitely want to beef up the sound in my Megane, door speakers first then consider a sub/amp idea.

  7. That's how I started, things are a tad different now though

  8. Made a few audio changes to your Megane mate?

  9. 3 amps, 2 subs, tuned box, bass cube , 0 gauge wire, pro line drivers, sound deadened, used as a school run car now so no need for speed lol.

  10. Got a link mate, wouldn't mind a gander at that.

  11. No buddy, don't really advertise it, the cube and drivers are really rare and desirable now so prying eyes ect, it's not a pretty install it's meant for purpose, the box completely fills the boot, just enough space for a fuel can lol.

It's clear and nice at moderate volume but loud enough to break things if you get giddy.

  12. I used the original speaker covers as a base to mould new speaker pods to hold a 6" speaker, tweeters are a straight forward swap too.

  13. Do our cars not have proper components with separate tweeters and woofers then?

  14. They do, although after 10+ years mine were a bit poorly, with 1 having no movement whatsoever.

  15. What size are they and where are the cross overs located?

  16. The originals? Not sure on size, maybe 10cm woofers and I think the crossover is built in to the factory head unit. My door woofers are 6", crossovers are in the door pockets at the moment and tweeters are on factory location on top of the dash, although they angle in ever so slightly.

  17. That might go some way to explaining why my speakers sound shit then. Finding a good heat unit is such a ballache, I don't think my Sony double din has the proper settings for 2 way, 3 way etc. My old Clarion one was superb but needs a fiddly fix I already failed at and I don't think I could find a bluetooth adapter for it.

  18. Ah, I've got a pioneer head unit, with a separate amp powering the front components and another powering the subs.

  19. Sorry to thread hijack but I'm after some speakers as mine are shot. I'm massively skint at the minute so want something fairly cheap , will these fit and sound alright...
