We all know the standard speakers in the 250/265 are shocking (gf dad has std in his) so i went for the arkamys upgrade so got the extra tweeters and higher watt rating which, whilst not amazing, was much better. some in here have added an active under seat style sub and said it made it much better. well today i had my focal active sub fitted in the boot, christ it's helped no end. ive kept all the std headunit e.t.c the audio guys just wired the sub into the speakers so all the bass now goes to it allowing the speakers to play much clearer and crisper. its literally helped no end and adds much needed depth. for anyone wanting that bit more music quality, under seat sub is a great option my local place fitted it all for £90 took them about 3hrs, this is the sub i have but much cheaper ones out there http://www.autosounds.co.uk/products/view/focal-bus-20/
I've got Arkamys too and it's shocking. I don't fancy a sub (although I know the difference it makes is fantastic) but want to upgrade the door speakers. Do you have any recommendations?
I also want to upgrade front speakers and tweeters. I have got Arkamys but it is very poor. I must say that Bose on my previous Laguna Mk3 was much better, probably because of 17 cm speakers and central speaker on a dashboard.
Agreed, so imagine all the bass goes to the sub which is small and compact so you loose no boot space. Then the speakers can handle much better. By no means is it amazing but its loads better than it was!
Problem with the speakers is they are 13cm i think so cant really handle bass and normal music at once you really need a sub to take it away. my local place said now dynamat the doors and better speakers if i want more but im happy with it now tbh have a look into the sub, they are only small
Yup mainly down to the speaker size but bose is a quality item. They actually did a bose for the 265 but only in france! But you couldnt get it with recaros as the amp wouldnt fit under the passenger recaro seat so i wouldnt have had it anyway!
Or a better solution, get an aftermarket exhaust and just open the window. That's all the music you need
Choose anything you like. The OEM speakers are riveted to the door frame in the front and whatever is behind the trim panels in the back. They have to be drilled out. I went all out and replaced everything - headunit, dash fascia kit, speakers front/rear and your typical 12" ported sub for the boot, mono and 4ch amps for the whole lot. Much, much better. The general consensus at www.ozrenaultsport.com is the headunit is the biggest limiting factor.
Renault does Bose for GT220 even for Polish market. Shame it is not available here in UK. How to connect this sub http://www.autosounds.co.uk/products/view/focal-bus-20/ ?? What would you recommend for front doors? I would like to change speakers and add some soundproofing.
Yer i saw about the bose a while back, apparently its not amazing though and the fact the amp fits under the passenger seat means you couldnt get recaros and bose together...i know which i chose! thats the sub i got mate. It depends whether you want to keep the std headunit or not. If you have an aftermarket headunit with a preout you wire it up like any other sub, if you want to keep the std headunit like me, i took it to an audio place to do properly. I understand they wire into the actualy speakers so the sub takes all the bass leaving the speakers to play normal music. i really love it, did so much for the quality and adds that needed depth! if you are going focal sub may aswell dynamat the doors and get focal components but they are not cheap...worth emailing your local audio place for advice im no expert!!
Its also a trend in these days, the speaker system of high standard also necessary for the driving, but sometimes it would be worse for your life so when you are on the road so take the base low.when you are on a meet or an car events so take the base high.
My mate has recently instaled a 165mm (6,5'' inches) into a front doors without any problems, only limitation is how deep they are, he bought some Magnats speakers for aprox 80 euros and it's night and day change..
I have upgraded my front speakers and tweeters today. Dynamats made huge difference as all squeaks have gone. Car is much quieter. Sound quality also is much better with mid range JBL.
