Rear badges, your thoughts

  1. Ok, so I'm wanting to freshen up the back end of my 225 Trophy so I'm considering some re-badging.

Here's how she currently looks, the MEGANE badge has been removed and it has the original Renault Sport badge along with a little T (assume for turbo) which I believe is an Audi badge fitted by the previous owner.

Now my initial plan was to remove both badges on the back and then fit a more more up to date rear badge. Question is, which one to go for?

The latest one to go on the right hand side of the boot lid :

or the Phase II RS badge :

  2. Definately the latest one as in the red picture..

and it looks so much cleaner without the megane words on the bootlid

  3. Yeah the MEGANE bit looks loads better removed.

The RenaultSport badge looks quite dated so I'm warming towards the new RS style badge (on the red pic).

  4. I prefer the newer one although I have the older one on my car the newer one will be easier to clean round as well

  5. Yeah there's less to get round on the new one although I thought they were one piece but when I fitted one to my old 172, it turns out it's two parts. Either way though, it's neater and tidier.

  6. I completely debadged the rear (except the diamond and only because it houses the button in the centre) and it looks so much cleaner!
Ideally I want to get rid of the rear diamond as well but not sure how I would go about that (would need to fill the recess sonehow)

The newer badge does look better, though I say debadge

  7. I prefere the older one shown, but whatever you do get rid of that awful T badge!

  8. Oh don't worry the T is going. I just haven't had a chance to get to the badges after I've washed the car as I want the paintwork clean before I polish off the redidue and re-protect the bootlid.

I need the T gone and to get round to selling that damned number plate haha.

  9. I like the one in the second picture. The newer RS badge is too modern for the style of the 225 or R26, that's why I haven't changed mine.

  10. I think a full de-badge to start with then I'll have a good think about which badge to go for.

  11. Stick with the badge that came with the car when new.

  12. I have the new style badge to fit to mine.

Looks better IMO, also easier to clean around

  13. I'm all for a bit of OEM especially on a car that's in such limited numbers like the Trophy but I think the original RS badges are dated so OEM+ for me in this instance.

I really want a newer badge but its like £40.

Currently rocking a Renault Spor at the moment as I lost a t. FML.

  16. All my badges are gone bar from the renault diamond , now hosting my new rs megane logo

  17. Going to get rid of the megane badge tonite
Might try the new badge next

  18. I'm on the badge in the second pic with a black diamond.

  19. Yeah they're not cheap are they, can get them off eBay for about the same price. They're OEM but at least you get them posted to your door haha.

  20. Go for new version of badge.

  21. I like new badge but also my ph2 badge....but I need to de megane it

  22. I decided to leave all badges on my Trophy when I had it, as it's such a special car I felt that I should keep it as OEM as possible. I even kept the MEGANE on, which I had previously removed on my R26 and Dci 175, I've also removed it on my 250.....

If you do go for it, I'd be inclined to go with the latest badge, but as long as you remove that T!

Either newer badge will look loads better than that old style one

  24. Save some weight get it made up as a sticker  lol

  25. I debadged the megane off my r26 2weeks ago but left the rs badge on .. looks so much tidier. I personally prefer the phase2 badge ... the newer one looks too modern for me

  26. I could save that kind of weight by just going commando when I drive it hahahaha.

I think full de-badge this weekend then think about which badge to go for next. I could go for a sticker though which would be quite cool, Porsche RS stylee.

  27. Mines fully debadged.

  28. Thanks for the pick mate, looks really good actually although the decals give it a nice edge too which obviously mine doesn't have.

Definitely gonna de-badge, gotta make sure the Mrs brings her hairdryer over haha

Yeah they look so much better without the " M E G A N E " on the tailgate... I need to do this myself on mine

  34. And lets face it, with an ar$e like that, everyone knows it's a Megane haha

  35. I disagree. I think the badge breaks up the massive arse.

One of the first things that I did after getting mine was re badging it.

It upsets my sponge to when I wash over it (I must emphasise the "when")

  37. New style RS badge as per Alexs pictures looks great, diamond cover may be an option, was on mine as I wanted it as black as possible, Megane lettering was the first thing to come off egusu4y4.jpg

  38. that looks great buddy, de wipered as well?

  39. Yeh, cleans up the rear a treat IMO.

I can still very faintly see the MEGANE lettering where it used to be, the paint is ever so slightly a different shade. I can only see it in certain light mind and you have to really look.
