tyre pressures for first track day in my R26

  1. This week I will be going to my first track day at Knockhill and I am looking for a bit of advice on tyre pressures. I am running Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres at the moment (near the end of their life) and I wondered what peoples recommended pressures are?

Also, any other advice would be well appreciated

  2. 32 all round mate , check them and adjust them back down to around 32

  3. Do you think this works well on the road too steve?

  4. 2 bar at the front and 2.2 bar at the rear for road mate, will be perfect

  5. Cheers

  6. Just keep an eye out on the wear at the edge of the tyre. Too lower pressure and it'll just roll onto the sidewall which doesn't help grip and will just ruin / break the tires.

  7. Cheers pal, I think that's what I'm running. I remember reading an article from a road test if the r26 across France and the Reno team at dieppe recommended this...ran it since but always seemed odd having higher pressure at the rear?

  8. Depends on how you drive, as others have said 32psi, then pull in after a session and if the pressure has gone up drop it to 32 whilst hot. If it hasn't gone up drive faster.

  9. Haha, that sounds like a good piece of advice!

Thanks for the advice guys, and I will keep a check on the edge of the tyres.

  10. i let mind down a bit on track never again check the front tire!!! 1960041_853129254703060_1188017481_n.jpg

  11. Asked about this when getting my cars suspension set up and was told about 25 cold which will raise to about 30 when warmed up. They had a ex s2000 spec BTCC leon with R888 running that pressure.

  12. I adjusted mine to 2.0F 2.2R this weekend for the hard driving fast road time that my car see's quite a bit of and it feels great, better traction than when the fronts were harder and still planted at the rear. This works out to be 29/32 in psi.

    Enjoy

  13. Youch, I bet your alloys were a few grams lighter on the rim after a few corners at that pressure!

  14. Yep nearly chewed my rim up!
