My car is a megane 225 cup mapped to 262bhp When it runs well It feels at least its given fiqures But the odd time it feels flat and slower I thought it may be heat soak so ordered a better intercooler But today it was only 4c in the early morn and was very flat in power My next guess is the recirc valve is leaking boost so ordered one from forge Anyone else had similar experiances Cheers
Yes mate just went out in it tonight and after 3 miles it spun the frts up in 3rd gear like normal Did 25 miles this morn and really flat
Coolant temp sensor in the head can play up telling the ECU it's still cold thus limiting power and limiter, I believe its different to the sensor in the thermostat housing so separate to dash display temp.
As above, temp will say normal even if sensor is faulty, mine was the other way, thermostat was partially open so it never got up to proper temp on the gauge thus it wouldn't rev past 5700, if the gauge reads as it should, ie just below half then I'd try bens info matey.
For reference this is not a correctly operating thermostat: When I bought my 225 I was driving around for months thinking this was the normal operating temp, only when replacing the stat it moved up to the centre of the gauge and run to its full potential.
exactly how mine was, surprising how it affects things, as said once it hits that second bar revs are restored, I used to go on a run on the motorway and by the time a couple of miles had passed I was back down to the first bar, frustrating when something with M or AMG turns up at the side of you and you can rev past 5 lol!
Ben it might be that as my car gets to the 2nd line within 2 miles from stone cold It revs to the 6900 rpm limiter as normal Will try an upgraded intercooler and forge recirc valve as I have ordered both Thanks
Noticed today the car runs perfect when the needle is at the 2nd bar I noticed when thrashing it it drops about 3 mm below the 2nd line So going to order a new stat off ads Cheers
If it revs right around to 6.7ish then it's fine, think you'll find it won't though if that's where your needle is, the thermostat is at fault, if it's warrantied and it's not revving right to the redline you could take it back to Renault. It wouldn't hurt.
I wouldnt worry about it dinn, climate control/air con can cause coolant system to drop in temp a little
