RS 250 Caliper rebuild?

  1. Hi Guys. I will be removing my front calipers for a spray job next week and thought I might as well rebuild the calipers while I was at it. My question is, does anyone know where I can order the seals from online / over the phone? Is there such a thing as a seal kit for these calipers?

  2. Thanks, I cant see one on their site, but I've dropped them a email. I'll let you know what they say

  3. There will be as they're the same caliper used on several of the Evo marques, though I can't see any mention of Evo on that website either.

  4. Update:- Bigg Red came through  £37.50 for full front caliper (both) seal kit). Less than I was expecting. Their reference number for the kit is BRK204023

Thank to all that advised me on this

  5. How did you get on with the rebuild?

  6. So I've just gone through the whole car cleaning the brakes and getting the crud out of them. Rears were fine, seals looked good and no problems, the front's however looked like this:

I most definitely need a caliper rebuild. Is this something you'd attempt yourself having not done it before? As far as I'm aware Renault will only replace the calipers as opposed to rebuild them?

Take it to a reputable garage to get them rebuilt if your not confident, I have a seal kit from Biggred to rebuild mine but going to get the garage to do it as I need braided hoses and a fluid flush doing as well.

  8. Cheers Jamie, the guy who looks ofter my Caterham is going to take a look for me. Saves me from any guesswork, not something I'm keen on doing with brakes!

  9. I agree with Jamie, It's not difficult, but if your not 100% sure, let someone else do it. There are plenty of "how to" videos on youtube i you fancy a go. But remember, the brakes are something you don't want to be making mistakes on :worried:

  10. Stu, does that mean the pistons are the same on the R26? I noticed the kit is the same one offered for that?

  11. Probably. This kit is for 40mm diameter pistons. If the same kit fits the r26, then it has 40mm pistons too
