How much of a ball ache is it to relocate the battery to the boot? Is it just a case of getting a fixing kit like this http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/battery-boxes-mounting-brackets and running the longer wires through the bulkhead somehow, then through the cabin to the boot?
Basically, yes. You will probably need a jointing box for the positive connections in the engine bay because there's a number of connections to the battery terminal on the Megane. You should put a bigger earth strap to the engine, or an additional one. Go for an enclosed battery box if using a standard road car battery inside the cabin. You can send me a list of what you need as I should be able to offer some discount. Regards, Jonny
Thanks. Im going to try and add a cold air feed to my modded air box so that's why I thought about moving the battery. Also it will help with weight distribution. If it comes down to moving the battery I'll pm you a list of bits.
Yeah no worries. Although I'm not sure I'm going to need to. I'm fact I'm hoping I won't have to, it might be a bit beyond my capabilities. Lol.
The other option is to use a smaller battery. I have a Type-63 (i think) which leaves plenty of space for the cold air feed.
Here's some photos of mine. Quick hash job of adding a Revotec 90mm air outlet to the airbox. Trimmed with tin-snips, 2 rivets to attach and Silkaflex to seal it in. Battery tray trimmed away to accommodate 90mm air feed Bottom corner of ECU bracket trimmed to accommodate 90mm feed Small battery (type 63?) in position as close to engine as possible. All done in no time Cheers, Jonny
I don't know my battery sizes but I was told that by someone who does. I'll look it up because I'm interested in knowing for sure :-)
Hi mate, very true, you did :-) How's your car coming along? Fitted those new bits to your car yet? Cheers, Jonny.
Cars coming along steadily, passed it's mot for a start! Been busy recently but having my cooksports fitted on the 10th along with inner tie rods and the steering bush you supplied me. Short shift went on and very impressed with that then it's baby time so things will probably be on hold for a bit!
