Thought I'd introduce myself, had the Megane for around 2 weeks now and love it! Came from a Clio 182 Trophy which I really liked and do miss, but the Megane is such a brilliant car. So anyway, the spec: - Full fat 250 - Cup suspension - LSD - Dual zone climate - Leather recaros - Bluetooth - RS monitor - USB and AUX - 18" satin black wheels - Headlamp washers - Keyless entry and go First impressions are how much quicker it is than the Clio! Although the Clio was fun, it doesn't even compare to the RS250. And it's so nice and comfy to drive, and has all the gadgets too! Some photos: Comments/suggestions welcome! Ash
Few more photos: And a short video I took having a little play with my new suction mount for my gopro: http://youtu.be/yJsRoVT7e4c
Niiiice looks lovely and obviously the fastest colour on meganes!! 182 trophy must of been a brilliant car to own... only ever driven one before and it was simply the best handling car I had ever driven... love the sachs suspension!!
Cheers the Trophy was awesome, like you say the Sachs are incredible, really hated selling it but couldn't justify keeping both! It's gone to a good home though, I will definitely own another one day, hopefully the same one if the guy decides to sell it at some point! For now though I like the RS250 a lot
Thanks, the monitor is a pretty cool gadget, and some of the gauges are really useful especially the oil temp. I do love the seats, so glad I have them, haven't seen many others with them in leather so I guess I must be lucky!
Wheelbolts on these cars always rust they're is a good thread on here for some £20 replacements , well worth it
RS250 my typo, yep they are superb cars and can be driven quite sensibly and economically or not when the Mrs isn't about.
Link attached, I used grumpytwigs link to eBay and bought those. They are the correct size etc as I've fitted mine with no issues, quick fix and smartens the car up.
Welcome to the site, i brought some black bolt covers off ebay, supposely off a saab which had also a cover for the locking bolt which also fits the meganes locking wheel bolt
Nice looking car, just bought a rs 265 myself two weeks ago after swapping my Porsche cayman, got to say prefer the Megan's to drive anytime what an incredible car, makes me smile very time I drive it, had it hunter aligned last week well worth it, are u going to do any track days ? Got 19 inch wheels on mine with the red pin strips, not sure whether to swap to 18 inch, what are your plans for your car ?
Debating track days but not too sure yet, although I'll end up doing some no doubt! Going to the ring at the end of May! Some people have said they feel that they drive better on 18s but haven't driven one on 19s myself. Plans are possibly a mid box chop, definitely an RS Tuning remap, a panel filter, and lots of driving it! I really don't feel that the car needs a lot doing to it at all as it's so brilliant in standard form. Ash
Its not obtrusive just gives it a bit more note and on overrun the usual burble. A cheap mod but it won't be on the scale of an RS Turbo etc. Very happy with mine as the standard exhaust noise is quite poor for such a car really
It does, more at 1-3 revs and tlet off the gas and you get slight popping, take it up to rev limitter and it pops loudly. On the motorway and under normal driving it's slightly louder than the normal one. I'm my opinion and that of my fussy Mrs it's pretty much for for both purposes and trust me if it gets her ladyships approval it must be ok. See if you can find someone local to you on here that a got one that you can listen to, I'm over in Basingstoke if that helps
Does it drone at all at 70 on the motorway or when cruising? I've had enough of intrusive exhausts on my clio! Basingstoke is a bit far from me unfortunately. Have listened to a few videos online and it sounds good just want to make sure I won't regret it.
No not really, was doing 110mph (whoops) and it's only very slightly louder than stock. No drone , teeth rattling or eat numbness. I'm really happy with it as is the other half who when she heard I was off to get the exhaust sounding sporty threw a wobbler saying if it was silly loud she wouldn't go in it! Wish I got it louder now guy at the exhaust place said the mid box was preferable to the rear. Could remove both but I'm happy with the way she is a bit of pop etc but not in your face like my old Subaru cat 1 tally exhaust which sounded like a Chinook
Haha! Sounds like what I'm after really. Have spoken to a place near me called Custom Chrome and they said £50-70 so not all that expensive either. May get it done this afternoon!
Mine was £70 as well at a long life exhaust centre. Only took 40 mins as well plus I asked to see under the car to see if it was all ok underneath whilst it was up in the air. I'm sure you'll love it as to me it's a middle ground and a darn sight cheaper than new systems, decat pipes etc. Been there with the Subaru and got bored rather quickly. Let me know/us here how it goes if you decide to get it done, it was the best £70 I've spent on a car
Ah sweet. If I get chance this afternoon may have it done! Will let you know if I do and get a video up when I get chance with the gopro
Unfortunately not. They didn't have time yesterday and I've spent all day today sorting the mrs mini out!
Welcome to the forums. The Meg looks nice. It's the exact spec I would have one in when I get bored of my R26.
