Had Robs 225 in for abit of love last week. Had a two stage detail carried out over 2 days. Car has 108k on the clock for reference. I noticed some great alignment on the bumper: Some of the swirling and micro marring, inc some buffer trails: Car was washed and iron x'd and clay barred, fair bit of tar on it: As suspected the bumper wasn't actually attached: All sorted:
Onto the polishing: Arch not polished yet. Loved the gloss: Car was then finished off with gtechniq c1 and exo, also give the engine bay a quick tart up:
Cheers Matt, still got c1 and exo on mine, been on for 18 months now and still beads and sheets like the day it was applied, I have literally left the car aswell never reapplied anything.
Really great turn around, bet he's a very happy chap now! Could you give some more info about which machine u used and what pad/polish combo's you did use? I finished mine this weekend with a green Hexlogic and Menzerna FG400, not quite ideal for a 1 stage polish but had some really nasty swirl's and RDS's on mine
Thanks Paul This was done with a 3m rotary. First stage was megs 101 and a scholl purple pad, then the second stage was a 3m yellow pad with megs 205 to finish up.If I three step a car Paul I normally start with menzerna fg400 then build up the menzerna range.
Great work Ed. Still a firm believer that inferno when detailed is one of the nicest colours you can get.
Great transformation mate You must have detailed every megane sport around London by now. Lol. You still got the .R? Thought you might habe sold it for that other thing you were looking at.
Cheers for all the effort you put in mate. The paint looks ridiculous in the sun – shame I didn't get time to take any pics before it rained though. I promise I’ll send some along soon and add to the thread for you. I've only ever had one person come up to me and compliment me on the car and colour and that was three years ago. Within half an hour of leaving yours I’d had two different people at the Redhill BP garage say how good it looked!
Alex, we need to our Infernos together for a 3-door vs 5-door shoot! It'll be an unfair contest, but seeing as i’ve never actually seen another Inferno on the road it'll be nice to what my car looked like 104,000 miles ago!!
Haha that would entail taxing and MOT'ing my inferno Megane. Something I keep meaning to do but haven't quite managed the last two years!! A Trophy vs Inferno vs R26.R with Ed would be a laugh too.
As long as we shoot from the drivers side only. My wife has made sure the nearside alloys have plenty of 'character' marks on them!!
Thanks for the offer mate. They do need sorting out pretty badly, but seeing as the wife curbed them within 2 weeks of the last refurb…I’ll wait till this is driven by me only! My Smart Fortwo wheels are a mix of diamond cut deep dish and painted centres. They need sorting out as I bought them with a few dinks in and they’ve got worse since last winter. Does your mate just do smart repairs – as in just puts a dog collar around the deflated tyre and paints the face, or does he powder coat too? I know Ed uses Lepsons over in Kent and recommends the hell out of them!!
No they do the full works mate, powder coating, diamond cut the lot. http://www.premierwheelrepairs.com/ If it's just a touch up job needed on them, I have another friend who's local to you who can do touch ups as he does mobile body repairs.
