Hi, what is the best remap for the RS250 from owners experience rather than the marketing blurb. Have seen suoerchips and seems easy enough to do but I guess that is a standard map that isn't tweaked in anyway shape or form to the car. I also wouldn't mind seeing a before and after for posterity. Seen places like RS Tuning and K-Tec, K- Tec being much closer as I'm near Reading Berkshire. Any thought and experiences would be much appreciated , cheers
You'll get mixed opinions mate but I think most will favour RS tuning. Get good gains too but I'm sure someone with a 250 would be better to say
I can only vouch from my own experience so here is my 2 cents: http://fastchip.nl/ - for a remote DIY map http://www.rstuning.co.uk/ - for a live map on a RR. And the before (fastchip) map VS the live map (rstuning). As you can see they are similar. It is worth mentioning that RSTuning also do remote maps, but having not tried it I cannot comment.
^ What he said. Red was the remote DIY fastchip map, Green was the live RSTuning map. The reason for the drop in power was because the remote map was knocking slightly at top end.
Read up on knocking and I guess that a remap with a specialist can iron out such problems where as a remote version may not eliminate such a serious engine damaging problem
Hi mate, i had my RS250 mapped at RS Tuning, the difference is night and day, torque everywhere, turns a really great car into a bit of a weapon. It's a long way (4 1/2 hrs each way for me) but well worth it. I took my .R up there as well, Paul really knows how to get the best out of Renaults.
I read that RS tuning can play with the VVT to spool the turbo up quicker which the remote maps can't do
RSTuning live map you are looking at £380 in a group buy after VAT or there-abouts. The fastchip remote map cost me £400 after VAT and shipping. Obviously the live map then adds another £70 on top for a tank of fuel traveling there and back
Im going down to RST in the next couple of months, Stage 2 map with Launch control, Which will never get used anyway LOL
Dont really fancy an 8 hour round trip if I can help it, any thoughts on superchips remote bluefin, failing that I'm ringing RS tmrw for a day out
Unless someone is able to provide a before/after of a Superchips/Bluefin similar to my Fastchip graph I can't see why you would chose them?
I was hoping someone may have had some experience with them as you say so I could weigh up all the options fella
No worries. I'm sure someone here will have a graph, I think theres been a couple that have done what I did and then had their DIY map overwritten with an RSTuning one.
Fastchip looks great, but was a little concerned by the knocking aspect and I'd guess I'd never know of any issues until the engine went bang, errors came up or I got it dyno'd. It seems basically RS Tuning as they can iron out any issues there and then. Just a pain re the distance and also I can't pop it back to standard if need be.
I'll give RS a buzz tmrw as only off next week so if they've a slot I'll go for a day trip to sunny Leeds. Rather have it done properly
Well if you are worried about engine issues then id also avoid the Superchips/Bluefin, speak to Paul when you are at RSTuning about them
Pauls other half is expecting this week so only today on offer for a remap which I can't do so it'll have to be in the summer when I've got some holiday time. Bummer
I would like to see some conclusive proof that it is a lean map in the form of some graphs and not just some tuners hearsay to drum up more business
