Candle to xenon on a 2007 R26

  1. If I was to get the headlights, ballast and sensors for the subframes, is the conversion possible?

  2. 99% sure you can ... its something I want doing on my r26 also but I'm not a hands on person and garages tend to charge a fair bit for the labour

  3. It would cost a fortune.

Just stick some decent bulbs in, I don't know what are in mine but they are aftermarket and really good. I put some Osram night breaker plus in my last car and they made a big difference.

  4. Could you not just get a HID kit?

  5. it must be at least in a projector, I HATE the people who put a HID in a halogen reflector headlights.

  6. I have the facelift projector lights, my Mini and 182 had xenon's so would like them on this. Thought about HID but just prefer the real thing, I will keep a look out for some.

There a loads of pre-facelift ones on ebay but apparently they don't fit - is this correct?

  7. I have hid in projector bulbs. Not a lot of difference at all between my 173 xenons and these. In fact I get less people flashing me due to having bright lights now. I got to choose white hid's n it blue xenon that where in my 172.

  8. what brand HID's did you get Chris? Easy to fit? and what colour did you get 6k?

  9. I have HIDs, Just put 4300 or 3700's in, its closer to the OE look and look much less aftermarket then.

  10. Do you have a link please Paul

  11. eBay item number: 220812701014

Cheap, really easy to install and have performed faultlessly for me. I have the 4300k bulbs in at the moment however they're still a little too blue for the OE look (I am picky however!) so I'm going to drop into the 3000k range to eradicate the blue tint. The replacement bulbs are only £10 a pair.

If you don't go for this kit, make sure you go for a 35w AC kit, NOT DC. Most bulbs available only work properly with AC kits.

  12. i think the factory fit xenons are around 4300k

  13. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy projector style headlight and fit HID's and replace the standard units in mine.

  14. no ph1 you cant, ive done the xenon conversion on my car you need headlight bulbs starters ballests front end loom 2x height sensors
plus you need to change things using clip

  15. Sorry only just read the reply, just some decent hids off fleabay. And yeah 6k iirc.

  16. How much am I looking at for that mate?

  18. Am I right in thinking HID's in a non projector style unit will cause glare for other road users? As some evo 5 once blinded me with his.

Yes. Won't pass an MOT and is illegal.

  20. I thought so. Just hate my candles and it's serious money for xenons I've heard

  21. No worries ... last question I promise! Do your auto lights still work?

  22. yes auto lights will still work if you fit a HID kit

  23. Nice one .. going to get some 5k ones ordered shouldn't be far off oem

  24. As above. Yes :-)

  25. Paul, do you get any errors come up with these HIDs? It says cars after 2004 may need a canbus interface ... did you bother or just order the standard ones?

  26. Just the standard ones. No errors, no flicker (as long as you get the AC ballast) and I don't use the canbus interfaces (I did get them but they do nothing, except create clutter behind the light...so in the bin they went!).

  27. Thanks Paul, going to order 5k ones off the link you posted earlier in the thread

  28. Another question for you lot, if i have projectors and headlight washers, will HODs be legal? Or do they have to be auto adjusting?

  29. Still not legal as not auto leveling however doubt the tester would bat an eye lid as he'd think they're standard xenon ... unless you get high temp bulbs

  30. Last one this time Paul lol the bulb type is H1 isn't it?

  31. H7 for dipped beam mate

  32. Thank you for confirming kev ... again!
