    Hi all,

I have an R26 question for you ...
I hear that if you fit all four Vibratechnics engine mounts, then it can add quite a bit of vibration. I'm not interested in making this car too harsh, so am looking for a solution. Has anyone come up with a working combination of VT and OE mounts to give a good balance of engine steadiness vs vibration?

    Cheers,
    Jonny

To be honest, mine aren't too bad but I would like it a little stiffer. I was thinking of replacing all of them but then I'm faced with the question... should I upgrade some of them?

  4. I heard good things about Vibratechnincs before, don't know if anyone on here has them on their car

  5. My car was used by vibratechnics to fabricate the mounts & the lower arm bushes. For the first year there was quite a bit of vibration. They have now been on about 3 years & the vibration has mostly gone (except on cold days when the rubber is hard) whilst they are still a lot stiffer than oem. If anything it will be the lower torque link that causes the majority of the vibration.

i've just put new oem ones on, know people that have fitted vibra ones and changed within weeks as it was too rattly after because it was so stiff

  7. I was told to stay away feom them as they caused more vibrations due to being stiffer

  8. I've fitted just the lower Vibratechnics torque link with OEM mounts and the motor feels much more in place and vibration isn't that bad.

This is what I was thinking of doing. In the Focus Mk2 and Mk3 world, the done thing is to just replace the lower torque link which stops engine rock. There are quite a number of options available from different manufacturers and the vibratechnics solution is one of the worst in terms of vibration. They use very hard rubber (which is fine) but the volume of rubber is also small, so they don't absorb much vibration.
I'll try what you did and report back.

  10. Yesterday I send my mountings to renovation. In Poland we have manufacturer who replaces rubber elemnts and insert PU parts
I can select hardness of fill.

  12. With standard mounts u could always stiffen them up with sicaflex. Yes I know it sounds rough and I haven't done it. But have done it in the past but it works a treat.

Interesting idea - I wonder how well it lasts? I could try it on the missus' Peugeot as the engine is about to fall out of it LOL

  14. It lasts really well tbf and it does work I did think about doing it myself but didn't bother.

  15. What's the crack with these then. Worth upgrading to the VT ones are sticking with OEM?

Stick with oem as the Vibratechnics are awful.

  17. If going down the vibratechnics route make sure you change the whole set. Changed 2 on a previous car and the vibration was a nightmare, but after doing the full set it wasn't too bad. The vibration is only at idle.

  18. Newbie to the Megane world , just picked up a 54 plate Megane 225. It vibrates in the car at tick over, looking on here on doing a bit of goggling it sounds like top engine mounting... I have a few Questions...

Is it worth getting done or is this part of ownership of this fun car.
Is sicaflex a good option if so how would I go about applying it..
Is oem replacement the only way to go, if so how much is a replacement part & is it a special one for 225 Megane sport only????

    Thanks

  19. Replace it with OE or eurocarparts one. Around £80

  20. Thanks
Any parts no's is is specific to the 225 megane sport or can any Megane one fit??

  21. Both the same as long as it's a sport.. If you get it from renault give your reg or follow steps in euro car parts with your reg too

  22. Thanks. & this will stop the vibrations @ tuck over??

I tried the Silkaflex idea and it didnt work. The rubber is just too soft.

  24. Yes... If it's the mount? Have you looked at the mount and tried the finger test? Remove the left hand side cover and look down at the mount and you shouldn't be able to get your fingers in the mount if you can then the mount has dropped due to age and rubber breakdown

  25. See when u tried the sicaflex did u put a plate on each side with grease to stop it sticking and leave it in the press overnight? Need to make sure there is no air gaps

  26. Got new mount from Euro's. All sorted. Easy & cheap fix...
