Renault Megane 3 RS – issues after clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinder line replacement

  1. Hi everyone,

I need some advice because I’m running out of ideas.

Recently, on my Megane 3 RS 273KM (75,000 km), the following work was done:
    • replacement of the clutch (OEM Renault),
    • replacement of the dual-mass flywheel,
    • replacement of gearbox oil,
    • replacement of the clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line (with a new stainless braided one, because the old one failed).

The slave cylinder itself was not replaced, only the hydraulic line.
The system was bled twice, and again later with fresh brake fluid.

    Sympthome after the repair:
    • With the engine off, all gears shift perfectly smooth — like butter.
    • With the engine running, sometimes gears go in smoothly, sometimes feel notchy or resist slightly.
    • 1st gear occasionally won’t engage (especially when stationary or in traffic), but if I release and press the clutch again, it goes in fine.
    • 2nd gear sometimes gives a slight grind when shifting.
    • 3rd gear can lightly “chatter” or “graunch” if I shift fast or aggressively.
    • The clutch pedal feels firm, but consistent and without any clicks or jumps.
    • No fluid leaks, the line and slave cylinder are dry and tight.
    What I’ve noticed:
    • The issue with 1st and 2nd gear is inconsistent — sometimes everything feels perfect, sometimes it’s not.
    • After bleeding, there was some improvement, but not completely fixed.
    • When engaging reverse, the car occasionally jerks slightly, as if the clutch isn’t fully disengaging (same on the others gears).
Someone have advice? Same problem? Thank you so much for help

  2. a suggestion.
With the engine off, pump the clutch peddle half a dozen times and hold or wedge the clutch peddle down for around 10 minutes or longer if possible, then release the peddle.

  3. I tried that — kept the clutch pedal pressed down for about 20 minutes after pumping it several times. Unfortunately, it didn’t make much difference.
After starting the engine, I tried engaging 1st gear about 15 times until it finally refused to go in. The same thing happened with 3rd gear.
