hi , please I need an info if possible: the RS Tuner remote kit (VCI) can log the internal wideband ( EMS3125 ECU) or remote wideband 0 - 5V signal must be provided to the tool? many thanks
The pro and premium versions of the RS Tuner (from Fastchip) have an external connections for 0-5V sensors (for e.g. a wideband sensor, if such is separately installed), but the standard version can read only internal narrowband sensors via OBD. Btw. The Renault Megane RS does not have a wideband sensor as standard.
Yeah, you're right, my silly misreading and assuming this was older than 2014. Not sure but I think the RS Tuner can read the OEM wideband as well as it comes directly from the ECU parameters.
I have no experience with RSTuner other than that I've tried contacting them without success. And their rather unusual business setup. But I've a variety of good reviews and experiences from people.
many thanks for the inputs. almost all new gen Renault`s have wideband 5 wire sensors. problem is that seems will not log via PID ..... yes customer support of RSTuner is not responding , not offering additional info about their set. just picture waiting for a remote setup tune that involves sending and receiving the file/tune ... will take ages and I assume fine tuning or final touch ups are out of the question. same goes for https://www.fastchip.nl/. 1 week to reply a basic question. in this case or I will go in Belgium at BR Performance or go to the very expensive Moutec route.....
If you want your car properly mapped it’s better to take it directly to a Renault specialist. As you’ve found out yourself, support from Fastchip is sub-par. Besides the mappings are aswell. Also no need to log AFR, as you said it yourself, it’s wideband so it will follow the ecu’s target.
many thanks, yes the EMS3125 runs full closed loop and will follow the target lambda. the lambda can be logged via generic OBD PID by the most OBD scanners , etc. for mapping I will go to EFI.
Mr Tutuur knows what he's talking about, if he was in this country then he would be my go to mapper. Go and get a proper map and i don't mean RSt etc, even Ktec use RSt mapping, if you want big number for a pub bragging rights then RSt is your place to go, i'd much rather have a smooth power delivery.
I'm not living in the UK nor the Netherlands, but what I know for sure is that I've had Fastchip's stg1 map in F4Rt ecu since 2009 (yes, 14 years, around 140,000 miles) and F4R since 2017 and both engines are still working reliably and going strong (compared to stock). Far better maps anyway than from the factory, even though these are remote maps and not to take any extreme figures out of the engines (ok, not even possible with a Clio 200 n/a engine, but still). So I dare say I have at least some idea what these maps do and how they work (F4Rt has also been on the dyno). And everything works; the maps are not adopted to the factory settings, the cruise control works as it should, the fuel consumption counter is correct, etc., which is not the case with all "tuners". Of course, as mostly remote maps these have to be more conservative, and therefore can't be compared to maps done on the dyno, but there aren't many other Renault tuners that offer this kind of reliable remote mapping. I don't see any reason why these maps would be any worse in comparison if they were made on the dyno by Fastchip/Henk. I do not know if Henk is "the map man" there today, or does someone else do them currently, but I'd say it's pretty unprofessional and ignorant to say that Fastchip maps are not proper maps and underestimate Henk's expertise in tuning Renault Sports. If Tutuur thinks he is somehow more competent Renault tuner than Henk is, then ok, let it be so. Would be just nice to know what it is based on and how it is measured... Btw. They also have this great RSTuner device that RS Tuning ltd. also use and sell (different firmware and RS Tuning's own maps of course), so it can't be too bad. Many great additional features available as well, no one else offers such things for these machines. Honestly, who can really professionally say they are not proper Renault tuners? Just sounds like empty vessels make the most noise.
Henk still does the mapping, even still does dyno runs. It is hard to get in touch with him since he moved abroad. Tutuur saying Henk's maps are sub-par is just nonsense. It's sad to talk a 'competitor' down. Never heard anybody about any issues with Henks maps regarding issues, reliability or engine failures. Can't say the same for Tutuur maps.
