Evening everyone I am a proud owner of a megane 275 trophy in liquid yellow and have done since brand new on a 64 plate, now am really hoping you amazing people can help me. Renault Manchester had my car for 14 weeks and could not find problem then they washed their hands of it. So when am driving and car is up to temperature it drives brilliant but when I press the stop button to turn engine off the engine turns off, shakes and the rev counter stays at 1k, check ESC comes up and the spanner light comes on and the car with skid lines stays on, sometimes it resets its self when I turn the engine off, Renault said it was the angle steering sensor and it wasn’t, then they said it was fuse and it wasn’t and then they changed the UPC unit and it wasn’t that. Now I notice today that I have no DRL working when I turn the engine on and they only come on when I turn the side lights on, normally they come on when ignition Is turned on and when I turn side lights on them dim abit, am hoping someone can help cause because am totally baffled Thank you
Hi Dave, a common problem that can cause many weird symptoms, is a bad earth, check all the earth points/tight battery connection. As no-one has answered on here, ask on the Facebook group.
Hi Dave, Did you manage to find a solution to this? My RS 265 has the exact same problem. It is obviously quite odd, and pretty challenging to find on Renault forums. Cheers, Benedict.
Morning pal yes eventually got it sorted, it was the stop start button/module when turning it off it was not sending the right signals to shut the car down
Thanks for the quick reply mate. What did you do to get it sorted (dealer/ mechanic etc)? Do you have a part number or anything from when you got it repaired? I'm from Australia so dealing with Renault for parts etc is a bit messy!
Sorry mate I don’t have part number all I know is that they removed dash board and replaced the stop/start button etc it was done at a Renault specialist 3 party garage
Hey again Dave, I know you said the stop/ start button was changed, but do you remember if there was a fault with the UCH (known as BCM, body control module for other manufacturers)?
hi mate as far as am aware no there was no issues with the BCM because I did mention it to them and they checked it all and they said it was fine. First off though they did change my steering angle sensor but that did not sort the problem just incase they tell you that because when that is failing it will come up saying check ESC
Yeah OK. When I had a diagnostic read about a year ago, I got the steering angle error too (so sounds similar). I might go ahead and try and source a replacement start/stop button, and see how we go.
yeah that’s what my issue was mate it was replaced and the problem went away. But it is Renault if it came up with steering angle sensor fault I would get that sorted plus check the UPC unit
Thanks mate. I ordered a replacement start/ stop button from a wrecker last night. Hopefully that solves it.
Hey again Dave, Unfortunately a new start button didn't fix it. I assume you don't have an invoice or anything like that from when you had it done, that details exactly what was done?
