Hi, how do you delete the aircon elements? Do you leave the pump on a car or use a shorter belt? Aircon delete kit from Pure motorsport is quite expensive.. Main purpose of deleting the a/c is to get a better air flow through the water rad.
I removed the guts from the pump and also the electrical clutch, then remove the air con rad. cheapest way of doing it. It will also reduce the weight by 2-3kgs
I fitted a delete kit to my RS200 Clio, it improved airflow, reduced parasitic loss & saved about 10kg. I would say do it properly if your going to do it so you get the full benefits. My Trophy-R Megane is the Nurburgring record edition which from new has no aircon, no stereo, no satnav etc, so I didn’t need to worry about it this time.
I used the Ktec kit on my 225, was pretty poor tbh. If I was to do it again, I'd follow Ian's method and just gut the pump.
Can anyone of you share an experience of how to remove all the hoses and the aircon vaporizer (that radiator inside a car that stinks - i dont know the english word) Thanks
The only reason it stinks is that the filter or the condenser is blocked with debris and its wet, pull the filter out and vacuum out the shite that's in there. If you want to remove the condenser then the whole dash and heater unit needs to be removed, good luck with that
Mine doesnt stink, it is fresh new and right after an ozon desinfection. I just didnt know what was the english word for it. And everyone knows where the stink might come from. No metter the language Yes, I think i pass the last hose removal...
Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I have the same question! I've just started doing an AC delete on my R26 using the pure motorsport kit. The two A/C pipes that run to the bulkhead just seem to disappear into the abyss! Can you get at them to undo them, and if so, how? Or do people tend to just cut them off as close to the bulkhead as possible? Also, once you've got them off, do those holes need 'bunging', or can they be left open? Thanks!
They are a pig to get to but can be done from above, you’ll need a 10mm ratchet spanner and the dexterity of a contortionist, think I removed the turbo heat shield then dived in, good luck! I haven’t bunged mine up.
i see alot do this. worst decision you,ll ever make if you track the car, for the weight you save against the extra cooling from the aircon fan it aint worth it.
Been out most of the day, but had a look. The metallic heatshield over the turbo was easy to remove in a matter of seconds. The bulkhead heat shielding is somewhat harder to remove, i've removed the one obvious fixing, but there must be some others hidden down the back of the engine, can't see them for love nor money!
It hasn't worked for years, and I barely used to use it even when it did. So literally no downside to removing it for me.
Same for me, never worked since I had the car, rad had split, so minimum cost of about £120-150 to renew that and regas it and no guarantee it’d work even after that, so just bought a gutted pump assembly and swapped it out.
