Federal tyres

  1. Has anyone had any experience of these, other than the 595 RSR? They do a 595 Evo as well, and wondered if they might be any good.

  2. ive been using RSR's on track all last year and rate they highly. much cheaper than R888's. cazan are doing a great deal on track tyres currently but id only recommend federals for track and occasional road use. for road pilot sports or eagle F1's are much better.

  3. Yeah, tyres are too important to use shite! Got Pilot Sport 3s on my Clio, brilliant tyres. Always suspect there will be good tyres among the slightly cheaper variety though, and I have heard good think about the RSR's, but nothing about the Federal 595 Evo at all.

  4. I used to run RSR's all year round on my Clio, that was with an average of 12k a year and a few track days.
That's what I'll be putting on my R26 when they need replacing.

  5. The RSR's are totally different to the Evos. I wouldn't touch the evo's tbh. The 595 RSR's were my tyre of choice until the Nankang NS-2r's went on the car

  6. How do you rate them to the RSR's iv seen them, and there cheap but not many reviews on them.
For fast road use and occasional track days?

  7. really impressed with them tbh.. Much better than the 595rsr. Very good in the wet too considering the type of tyre.

I'm doing cadwell with them next Saturday so well see what they are like giving them some stick.

  8. I've found the Nankangs to be better than RSRs as well. (Soft 120 compound that is on my Focus). I will be trying a set on my R26 soon. Do people tend to opt for 235 over 225 for best performance on these cars? I would normally run 225s on an 18x8j rim but R26 and R26.R had 235s ... ?

  9. If you want only semi-slick track day tyre test the Federal FZ201, is a very semi-slick tyre.

  10. Road tyre is 235, track/semi slick is 225 that's what the R came with as the 225 track day tyre is the same width as a 235 road tyre so if your going for the nankangs then you should be fitting the 225

  11. Thanks mate. Yeah I worked that out the other day when i measured a rim and found it defo was 8". Already got the track tyres ready to fit.
    Cheers,
    Jonny.

  12. I was thinking of buying in Nankang 235 only for the track, I think more than 10mm in support of these powers are better

  13. The Nankang 225 is wider than a PS3 235. I can post photos and measurements if you want.

  14. So 235 is like the 245?

  15. Send me a pm with your rim size and I'll sort some options for you

  16. A 235 semi slick will be the same width as a 245 road tyre

  17. It's a good thing or not?
