Stage 1 Map Worth It?

Is a stage 1 map worth it with no exhaust mods? I want to keep the car MOT friendly. Thanks

  2. Yeah definitely, I’ve seen fully stock cars get very decent gains up to ~290-300bhp

The only exhaust mod that would cause MOT issues is a decat, so catback systems etc are no problem if you were thinking about it.

  3. I just have a mid box chop and an intercooler, and it makes 317bhp with a remap. Definitely worth it and 100% mot friendly. With the stock intercooler you're bottlenecked at 290bhp ish.

That's exactly what I am planning to do. Which intercooler you are using?

  5. Wagner. Highly recommended as it doesn't block the radiator, unlike some others.

  6. On this subject do people view long term usage of the remap as any sort of issue or can the engines handle it without too many problems? Mines a low mileage 2011 250 and had a stage 1 map when I bought it and it still seems great and I've got no problems at all now but starting to think about damage to the engine of using long term.. Seriously considering getting it un-mapped..

  7. as above i would go mid box chop as its nice, cheap and easy. wagner intercooler all the way as its suitable for stage 2 also. change the panel filter and remap..... perfect and mot friendly.

As for remap over a long period, my car has had one for about 8 years I believe and it runs spot on

I kept my 265 stock for 3 years. I then remapped it 300 hp (at the same time 3" turbo back and Wagner). I would never go back to stock, car is so much more fun to drive now.
I would guess the turbo charger won´t last as long because of the remap. I mean, stock boost preassure is max ~1,3 bar and remapped max boost >1,6 bar.

  9. Yeah its definitely more exciting in this guise. Good to hear others have had no problems despite long term use.

Thank you! Best place for a map other than RStuning as that's too far. Anywhere in the south east?

  11. Efi is the only other place, think they are Essex way

  13. I was impressed with Engine Dynamics. They did the remap on my 265. Drove lovely. They are Essex based.

  14. +1 for Engine Dynamics. They have a good reputation tuning Renaults. My 275 was remapped there and it is excellent to drive.

  15. Agree with what he said, Although I'm only 5-10 mins from EFI so I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else lol
