Need some advice. Gotta get some new pads all round and not too sure what to go for front pads, DS3000`s or the Carbon Lorranie`s ? Had CL`s on my track Clio 182 and they were awesome !! Price is more or less the same... Had a look at getting them from KTEC unless anybody could advise elsewhere (cheaper...) Thanks !! LM
CL5s should be fine for the rear. I personally dont rate ds2500 or 3000 pads. CL and pfc pads have much better feel through the pedal. Dave
I've got some nearly new RC5 rears wich can be for sale if you want Ferodo ds1.11's are proven on the front of the Megan's Used in the clio cup also
I'm thinking of trying DS1.11 next but not sure if I should put the same on the back, or stick with DS2500s at the back. Any thoughts?
Speaking from experience John? I've heard it's better to stick to a lower spec pad at the back, but I wasn't sure if the combination of 1.11 and 2500 was appropriate.
Best combo I've run is ds3000's up front with ds2500's rear . Awesome but I only got 1.5 days out of the ds3000's and they were gone I've got some ds1.11's on the way to go up front . Should be pretty much as good as ds3000's but last 4/5 days and be kind on the discs Josh cook runs DS 1.11's up front with ds2500 rears and says it's one of the best setups available for the Meg's Also John (Frederick) runs this setup and his brakes are awesome all day long with no problems . He's run them for a long time with no issues
I ran the ds3000 for a short time To dusty for me and hard to remove off the alloys Are the ds1.11 a lot better from dust Cheers
DS 1.11s will be going in mine next time all though I've never had a problem with the DS 2500s all round along with the PF 330 kit, the 1.11s should be another couple of steps up
Wow didint expect that many replies lol Thanks for the info everyone !! Looks like an interesting comparison... Have you got links to other sites for Ds1.11 or pagid as I cant see them on KTEC. Thanks !!
I tried both DS2500 and CL RC6 in my clio 197. The DS2500 are a step up over standard but I melted them on a trackday, they left horrible deposits all over the discs, looking on the web this seems to be a common problem with DS2500 pads. I then changed to RC6 and they were amazing, phenomenal stopping power all day long on track with no fade and just as good on a stone cold winters morning (sintered pads don't need warming up). Only problem was they squealed quite a bit so were a bit embarrassing sometimes
I'm not sure you can call 150 degC cold! I doubt the pads even get that hot in normal day to day driving
150 Degrees is nothing for brake temps, easily get them that warm on daily driving, Especially with high coefficient pads.
Think Im gonna go for CL rs5+ front and rear... 1.11's quite expensive (not that CL's are cheap) and CL's should do the job quite nicely...
Im getting them through a spanish company that deals direct with the UK as Im gonna be ordering alot of mods at the same time and the price in €uros for the ds1.11 was about 240 I think...
