225 Valeo alternator 110/120A

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by maece82, Jul 3, 2021.

  1. Valeo parts catalogue shows two different alternators for Megane 2 RS:

    439479
    110A
    with AC

    439478
    120A
    no remarks, regarding AC

    At the moment, there's still the OEM Valeo alternator installed , 110A , 82 00 410 671.

Might it be possible to install the 120A alternator 439478, instead of the OEM Valeo 110A alternator, even with an existing AC compressor, sitting next to the alternator?

And are the 225 Meganes already equipped with such modern alternators, that talk to the engines ECU via some sort of BUS cable? That said, does some sort of different alternator need some adjustment via Clip software?

    Many thanks and cheers
    Marcel

  2. Unfortunately, none of the above mentioned numbers were correct:-(

Standard Megane 225 with aircon has the OEM Valeo 110A alternator TG11C040 installed. Renault part number 82 00 410 671.
Below both Valeo aftermarket order numbers, for alternator TG11C040, as proper replacement part for OEM 82 00 410 671.

    Valeo 439588
    NEW alternator TG11C040

    Valeo 440060
    REMANUFACTURED alternator TG11C040

    These alternators are plug-and-play

    Cheers

  3. There seem to be multiple models for the 225 .

    He's mine 225 2005

otherwise I have to change it. When heated, the voltage drops to 13.4V

if a alternator has a output of 15.5v would that suggest the alternator/regulator is faulty?

  5. Yes definitely. It must stand at 14V 14.3 ... regardless of the load.
Check with another instrument. The voltage is measured on the battery itself. It can be smaller in the cabin.
If it's the same as mine in the picture, I can send you a part nr of valeo regulator.

  7. Hello!
I had the exact same problem and I fitted the "03G180" reference a year ago, bought from the ssme dealer as you and it's has been flawless since then. I need to check the alternator reference to see if mine is same as yourse. I will check it tonight. Not bad of a job, a little finicky but straight forward pretty much.

The 15.5 volts killed my battery so maybe worth to do a battery test aswell.

how was it to fit it?

  9. It took me 40 minutes. You have to remove the front plastic trim and metal part where the hood latches and then you have enough access to the regulator itself. Tree nuts and a cable conector out and its yourse. Do the reverse for fitting and ready to go. Make sure you remove the plastic bit that holds the brushes of te regulator once you have it bolted to the alternator.

@Conoboy does the plastic cover over the regulator just pop off?

  11. I don't quite remember right now but the cover didn't give me any problem. Maybe you have to remove some nuts too.

I've just checked my alternator and it is the same reference as yourse by the way.

  12. i'm afraid to say i took off the alternator to replace the regulator. To make things even harder. The temperature was 38 C. It was like hell in the garage.

fitted the regulator today, i took the inlet off as i wanted to change the gasket and give everything a clean

with the inlet its very easy to change the back plastic cover that covers the regulator just pulls off with a bit of help with a screwdriver and then 2x 7mm bolts ahnd a 7mm stud holds the regulator on. on mine the alternator was charging at 15.5v but with the new reg fitted its now at 14v

  14. I’m hoping someone can help - I’m having a mare trying to locate a correct (ideally OE quality branded) alternator regulator. I’ve attached a photo of the alternator cover… showing some different numbers to those posted above. The car is an 08 plate R26 Megane. The regulator itself has part number 2604774 04018 on it. I reached out to a Valeo distributor on eBay and they can’t even locate the correct part number, so I’m at a bit of a loss. There are so many part numbers all over the alternator in general, I’m going round in circles looking at different ones!

I did drop onto Autodoc, but again, they give quite a number of options, all of which are supposedly compatible. Something doesn’t seem quite right there, and I don’t want to go through the hassle of having to keep returning non-fitting parts.

my alternator only lasted another year, probley best off changing for a whole new alternator

  16. That’s less than ideal… I’ve actually stripped mine to replace the bearings and clean out all the years of accumulated dust. I’m hoping that a combination of that plus a new regulator will keep it functioning for a few more years!! There was nothing actually wrong with it, but as my engine is out for rebuild, I figured it can’t harm to do a refresh of the moving / hard-to-access components.
