Hi everyone just heads up if you have a megane 225 might be an idea to give Renault a call I did and asked them if there was any recall items and they said yup brake hoses are to be replaced woop free brake hoses gave them my vin number and confirmed so booked it in for Monday so thought I'd share this beut lol
Letters were sent out years ago, but some of them go to previous owners so the work doesn't get done. I don't know why car manufacturers can't or don't get a list of the current owners considering these are safety recalls. I'm a postie and deliver quite a few recall letters, and the occupiers often say they haven't had a Renault/Fprd etc (whatever make is on the envelope) for ages.
Well I used to work for a renault dealership and still go round to my old work to talk to everyone and the store man there was telling me when I was getting the paint code for my car
ive had the car only 12 months i never got a letter must have gone to previous owner, they did ask for a letter but i stated i havnt got one im a new owner to the car they said to me not to worry and that its fine just bring a few things down. so i suppose regardless to a recall letter they still do have a legal obligation to that vehicle- i doubt they would like to turn me away and something bad happen to my car due to brake hoses failing and it all beeing logged, at last something back from Renault after spending ££££'s on their car -lol small drop but hey something for nothing
Manufacturers don't want to go public with recall campaigns, as it goes against them as a black mark in the reliability section, so they contact all the owners on their database and hope they get all the cars recalled back to be checked, if not they have to go to the dvla with vin numbers and gain the new registered keepers address, hence why some are getting recall letters now, but never been near a dealership.
