Ignition cutting out ever few seconds

  1. I am at a loss regarding this issue.
I put the key card in and dash lights come on and I hear the fuel pump prime for a second or so, after 3 seconds the ignition cuts and fuel pump primes again and so on and so on. If I start the engine this cut continues every few seconds over and over it just about continues to run inbetween cutting.
When the problem first started it was whilst driving and would come and go. It seemed to happen more when under load but is now doing it constantly with just the ignition on.

At the same time as this started I got a message saying key card battery low so I changed that but problem was still there.

    Any ideas guys ?

  2. Might need to plug it in a code reader or even better use Clip if you have one or access to one.

  3. It's not as simple as reading the faults as it's throwing up numerous errors as a result of it cutting but they aren't the cause, they are as a result of the power loss.

  4. weird, have you check the earth points on the car might be worth a look and clean them?

  5. Do these help?

  6. Does the battery showing ahealthy (circa 12.5V) before starting can and alternator should show 14v at the battery terminal when car is idling. if battery is low or on its way out these cars seem to show all sorts of unrelated errors.

  7. Battery voltage is high alternator output is fine but irrelevant as this ignition cutting in and out is happening before startup

  8. You might have an earthing issue somewhere. Have you checked none of the coilpacks are arcing?

  9. The top of my engine is exposed so I will give it a thorough check around coilpacks and earths
