Bushes etc

  1. Hey there, so I have just got my 08 R26 and obviously its amazing - I am going to get it on coilovers soon as I can and want to uprate bushes while I am there. Had a good read around on here and I am still not sure what bushes to uprate, how to get to all of them and what bushes to use.... I am going to use it on road as well as track, but more on track.

Any advice gratefully received, thanks in advance!

  2. If you’re using it mainly on track you’ll want Powerflex black series bushes, you can change front wishbone bushes (front and rear), front anti-roll bar bushes, rear trailing arm bushes and all gearbox and engine mounts can have inserts or be replaced with solid ones too.

  3. Im been using StrongFlex ones in my R26 for street/tack use and it is a very worth upgrade in my opinion. I went for red ones in front wishbone and rear trailing arm. Yellow for the front anti-roll bar. The car became very responsive with little steering imput, using stock suspension. They are quite a bit less expensive than Powerflex and better quality sometimes, from my experience, and very fast shipment. I've using them for a couple of years and no problems since I installed them. No squeaks, no rattles, etc.

I'm also using Powerflex inserts for gearbox and lower engine mounts and worth the upgrade too.

On my 225, i had yellow powerflex bushes in the four engine mounts, all the suspension mounts were Purple inserts, i did buy the adjustable front ones, they were an absolute nightmare kept moving when giving it some on track, i over tightened them and they still moved, they were a right pain in the ass as when they moved the steering alignment went out :rage::rage::rage:

  6. To install, very easy. To remove the wishbone old ones, a bit tricky if they have any rust. You will need a decent hidraulic press and maybe a bit of heat.

For the rear ones, maybe you will need to cut the metal part with a dremel or a cold chisel. Once they are cutted, they will fall of easy.

I've heard of that too hehe. Maybe it would be better to suit adjustable top mounts if there are any that can adjust caster and camber.

  7. I did the wishbones recently. I had a pig getting the smaller bush out to be honest. And had to use a press to get the larger bush back in. Other than that it’s not a bad job. Typical renault design though where you have to remove lots of other parts to get to the part you’re working on.

    Here was my thread.

It was mentioned on my thread about reasonably priced new genuine arms. Might be worth considering.

  8. Cheers, appreciated!
