On the k-tec website it claims that the induction kit gains 13bhp, this seems optimistic. Does anyone have any experience with this kit? And noticed any difference. Sounds like cheap horsepower if true.
on a mk2? i have the kit on mine,and it defiantly helps the engine breath better at the top end. possibly it could achieve that figure with a dyno tune. But i doubt if it can give you as much as that without supporting mods.
Yeah this is from the website and for a Mk2: “Testing has shown gains of up to 13bhp and 13lbs/ft on a completely standard car as well as lowered inlet temperatures as tested using a Scan Gauge monitor” Seems like a bold claim! But I guess the key words here are “up to 13bhp”
I have just a K&N panel filter on my standard 265, had it on the rolling road with standard Renault air filter showed 269bhp, had on rolling road again by chance with K&N showed 283bhp I think. With standard air filter was on Optimax, with K&N was on Sainsbury’s Super 97. Wish I’d had optimax in, ha.
You might find that is to do with the fuel - from when I’ve looked into this before, lower octane fuels had a higher energy density, so more power for the same engine map. Obviously adding higher octane reduces knock and can therefore see bigger gains by increasing boost pressure that far outweighs the lesser energy in the fuel itself. Hectic if this is true then adding octain booster to any standard car does nothing but run cooler maybe?
