275 Trophy Recaro bolster wear vs full leather Recaros

  1. I'm looking to buy either a Cup S or 275 Trophy hopefully in the near future. I've seen some pretty bad bolster wear on the alcantara/leather 275 Trophy seats and I was wondering if anyone has experience of whether this is generally worse than full leather CS Sportsters?

Potentially different materials are used but when I had full leather Sportsters in my 250, they seemed much better wearing that the Trophy seats appear to be.

I haven't heard of much wear on the recaros' and mine look pretty much brand new - but the car has only done 35k ish

  3. That's good to know thanks! Assuming you have a Trophy?

Sorry may have misread the thread - I have a 250 Lux with cup chassis and recaros

  5. If you have seen some bad ones probably down to how much care and what they are wearing getting in and out.

Seen a few pics of somd clio raiders and they seem to have wear on the upright bolster rather than the horizontal one on normal cloth clios.

Guess with leather you slide across easier.

Is it real leather? Does all the conditioning and cleaning stuff work?

  6. Yep it could just be that, I haven't seen enough or read anything to suggest it's a common problem. Unlike the cloth Recaros that are well known for wearing through!

  7. Full leather drivers Recaro in my 35k mile Cup-s are showing signs of wear to the upper outer bolster and the lower inner bolster. My guess would be previous owners as well as myself wore jeans most of the time. The leather is not particularly damaged and would re-dye quite well.

  8. My 250 is on 73k miles and my leather Recaro’s are in in excellent condition apart from a tiny bit of wear of the bolsters from getting in the car. I find it difficult getting in (2 major knee surgeries from football injuries) and taking it steady to slide into the seat ha

  9. Gareth, in Spain says "sport is healthy", in your case, let me doubt it!:tonguewink::tonguewink: No man, jokes out, I like sport too, sport climbing in my case.
Backing to the main theme, my leather Recaro´s had 70000km. and looks like news, but I care they like my wife. I put my ass carefully every time that get into the car, leaning on the A pilar. And it looks like the previous owner did something like that too.
About the cloth ones, I agree that seems a bit weaker, but taking care of they, can´t be any problem, or that want to believe!

  10. Hey I have some leather recaros that have 130,000 miles on them. The bolster wear isn't really an issue, they got slightly discoloured (which I was able to fix) but the integrity is still okay - so not really a concern. The one annoying thing is that with jeans / trousers on with poppers/buttons if you adjust yourself in the seat they can rip the leather. Though to be fair I have only had one pair of trousers that did this! I found that a leather repair kit actually worked fairly well to repair the seats too.

  11. Thanks for feedback all, good to know that the full leathers can go on without much wear when looked after. Be good to hear from some Trophy owners too with the leather/alcantara seats although appreciate there aren't as many of those around!
