What’s everyone using for the plug in obd reader thing? For fault codes etc I’ve seen some Bluetooth ones but not sure what to get. I use an iPhone if that makes any difference. thanks
It all depends how far you want to get into the system, a app on your phone wont let you into much and it will give you a generic code but you can delete any codes with it, Renault can clip will let you right into the ecu and the other computers, it needs a laptop to run though but it's not that expensive think mine was £159. I have just bought a Icarsoft unit but not had a chance to try it yet
ELM327 Bluetooth Super Mini OBD2 II tool for me with the Torque App on my Android phone. Leave it plugged in behind the centre console cover on my R26.
Ask the tech store selling you the device, they usually know their devices capabilities. A few years ago when i had an iphone i needed to get an obd dongle that used wifi connection to phone. Not sure if that is changed My android works with both bluetooth and wifi dongle. You will only be able to see the generic ecu codes though, so no abs, transmission or airbag codes. Also no manufacturer specific codes. Mine could clear any codes it did find aswell.
Has anyone used the icarsoft device? I have an air conditioning fault and would like to clear the code without a trip to the dealers but unsure if it will go deep enough into the ecu
Thank you, having read a few posts on other forums it would appear to be able to do it however the car needs to be in forced ignition mode (insert key car, hold down start/stop without the brake or clutch depressed until lights come on the dash)
You also need to push the button at least once a minute to keep it in "forced ignition" mode or it will time out
Sorry Mate Had a shit day had to go to work It was the Icarsoft v2.0 with 10 manufactures ether loaded or you can load yourself
