Hello all

  1. Just put a deposit on a 2015 RS265 (Cup chassis, sat-nav)
Grey probably not my first (more like my last!) choice but a well known local dealer with great reputation and such great value compared to a Civic R etc so jumped on it.
Due to current Covid situation no test drive so cant wait to pick it up. My last Renault sporty car was before the RS branding, a R19 16V Chamade, which I bought nearly 25 years ago!
Being 49 this year, am I the oldest Megane RS new owner?

  2. Welcome. Hope you enjoy it. Got my first renault/rs three years ago at 48 after my VX220 was written off. Really enjoying it still.

  3. Welcome.

You edge me a little on age. My bro used to have a charmade 16v back in the day, boy did it corner.

  5. Welcome mate, you'll definitely enjoy your latest Renault. My mates Dad had a 19 16v Chamade, I loved it. Does anyone remember the adverts, 16 does go into 19 or something like that?

  6. Thank you all, looking forward to it. Just need to remember my reflexes are not as good as they were back then!
Here’s the old one for a bit of nostalgia 16B8430B-6A98-4B34-8153-A807A1811186.jpeg

    Welcome!

you’re nowhere near the oldest owner, Arthur on here is in his 80s and still drives 100s of miles to do a track day!

  10. Welcome man! Maybe your reflexes are not as good now, but if you come from a 19 16v, you´ll think the RS drives alone:tonguewink:
I have mine 3 months ago and come from a Super 5 Gt Turbo(20 years with!:disrelieved:), and when test the RS I was impressed what easy is to go fast.
I hope you can show us the car soon and you enjoy the Club:wink:

  11. Okay add me to the grey fanclub :sunglasses:

  12. Thanks. I grew up on hot hatches and have had many over the years. I tried to be an adult and have "good" German cars but I miss a hot hatch. A proper hot hatch, not a mini-GT car like my M135i was !

I also hope I can post some pictures soon, its a long wait, made worse by Covid and a full paint correction and ceramic coat!

  13. Out of interest, what is the best method to get the emblems and exhaust trim "blacked"?
I was thinking of removing them and getting them water transfer printed, either in gloss black or carbon?
I have already had the "MEGANE" badges deleted

  14. I plasti dipped my exhaust trim. Worked well. You can buy covers for the Renault diamonds online.

  15. That's nice.
Having just paid for the car and ceramic coating while still sitting on Furlough I am trying to curtail spending and to be honest £45 for two plastic badge covers is hard even for me to justify!
I have just googled plasti-coat, interesting product.
Exhaust trim looks excellent. Rear emblem even in black still stands out too much (although much better than "chrome" which is one of my pet hates on modern cars) - I really wanted to delete this but it would mean filling and painting so no go! If I water transfer printed it I could try and get it close to the body colour.
Maybe I am just getting OCD as I dont have it yet and will just drive it and forget about these small things!

Great input from all, many thanks, it is appreciated

  16. The plasti dip was really easy to use and heard wearing too. Plus it can be removed if need be.

You could always get a can of paint to match the body and spray the diamonds?

  17. At last she has arrived. Wee video during prep, I got full paint correction and ceramic done.

    First impressins are ... wow
Hot hatches are definitely hot these days, the go and grip are addictive. The CUP setup not as harsh as I thought for daily driving. Only done short runs and wee blasts so far (reflected in the 23mpg average!) but loving it.

I need to figure out the entertainment system, it has evidentally been factory reset but I only have the quick start guide so not sure where I go on my laptop to load up the SD card again?

  19. Okay so managed to get registered online with R-Link, got the SD recognised and updates done, connection tests good however I cannot get the r-link store and get this error. Anyone have any idea? R-Link store any many other apps are also "greyed out" in the car so cannot access from there either.

  20. Looks lovely, you just need to get it dirty now!
Not sure about your R-Link issue. No doubt Renault would want top dollar to sort anything. Stage X in Coventry might be able to help? They put android auto on for me whist I was getting the Rs Monitor, works a treat.

  21. Been raining here the past couple of days so she is dirty now and cant be cleaned for a week (to allow ceramic to fully dry)!
Have messaged Stage X, thanks for that

  22. Agree the dismond plastic covers are expensive for what they are. On my second set as the sun affects them after a while so spray painted mine in renault pearlescant black to match my mirrors and bullets while I decide whether to get so me more. Came out ok so haven't ordered any new covers.

  23. Thanks for this, good information. I would really like the rear badge to be body colour to blend in as much as possible so painting could be the best option.
