Just polybushing the car and had a quick search but can’t find a fitting guide for the front arm front bushes, Has anyone got one or any hints/tips for changing them would be much appreciated.
Use the lube that is supplied, smear the bush and the hole in the arm, i am assuming that you have removed the steel insert ??? You can then squeeze them in, using a vice or such like, then push in the insert.
Yeah I know that bit , front arm rear bushes are done, was meaning more how to remove the original bush, I’m assuming the little welded on sleeve bit needs cutting off?
No i am sure you don't have to cut the weld, it should just bash out. Sure it gets knocked out from the front, its a sleeve inside a sleeve
Is that bash out big hammer time or press it out? And does it need any drilling or cutting at all first?
Of course it means a big hammer one of them shifts most things on a Megane. If you have a press then you can use that, but it's awkward to put in a press. Nothing needs drilling or cutting, it's an interference fit. This is whats inserted into the arm as standard, see the lip on one end ??? that won't go through the hole https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-RENA...enault|Model:Megane|Variant:MK+II+[2002-2015]
What about top engine mount change, does the engine need supporting on a hoist or can it just be jacked from underneath?
@Poppaboost is this a road car or track car ? I only ask cos if you fit that top mount then it makes standard renault rattle very annoying so much so i binned my poly top mount for a bit of peace an quiet behind the wheel money well spent
I’ve got a rubber pad to sit on the jack Ian which worked will for gearbox mount and lower engine mount today just top main one to go. What actually needs removing to get the main mount out, the sort of bracket bit at the top and the cover over the cam gears?
Just to clarify Azza, I mean the main mount not the top dog bone mount, read too many vibration complaints about the rigid evol ones etc to go down that route so it’s been renewed with a febi one.
There are three or four bolts on the main mount that bolts to the chassis, there then is one big one that goes into the engine, you don't need to remove the cambelt cover bit
Yeah thats the bastard i swapped one for poly on a clio 182 an steered clear ever since never done one on a meg but its the same mount attached to the cambelt cover so id imagine the results would be the same, vibrating like a car shaped rampant rabbit
I fitted the powerflex purple inserts on my 225 to the engine mount and the gearbox mounts, the top one was left as it is but just fitted a new one, the lower one i fitted the yellow inserts, kept the engine steady but no increase in the vibrations
Ive steered clear ever since ian, its only one mount on the clio driver side so might make a difference to a meg as that has the dogbone too mine was the yellow insert not even a full mount an it shook like a shitting dog i do love spending money on performance parts best thing about poly bushes you get a little poly keyring to ease the pain of fitting the fuckers also 2nd of july is booked off ill be waiting at efi in a almost stock silver r26 if i havnt sold it by then
All this talk of bushes an a chap named yorkie is selling polybushed bottom arms an other parts on here
I read it wrong they are standard an the standard meg has an r26r clutch an fly now so no point keeping it stock now its tainted so im going full retard on the mods just have to send the parts to work so the missus doesnt find out
I don't know what they are like on a Clio, but they worked well on the mk2, on the 265 i just filled up the rubbers with a some marine sealer, seems to work quite well atm Be good to put a standard megane to a name
I do love a fix/bodge with a silicone product tiger seal is my fave never leave home without an emergency tube of it an you too pal itll be nice to see what all this 265 fuss is about an what turned you away from the original fast meg it must be good cos you know your shit
Bodge you cheeky f***, it's a professional job The 265 was a desperate purchase, my 225 had many issues over the years i had it, well the 250 engine did, the car was jinxed from the start, i bought it from a guy who was well wealthy, the garage he bought it from took out a payday loan on the car, as soon as i registered the car the company sent me a letter wanting it back. Then there was the 250 problems, its all on hear in my previous threads The final nail was the rebuilt hybrid turbo shat itself for the second time so i put it all back to standard and sold it, then sold all the parts i took off.
Sounds like a proper nightmare pal at least you hung in there an made the best of a bad situation id of probably set fire to it then cried myself to sleep for the next couple of weeks
i did stick with it for longer than i really should of, i did like the colour and that was why i stuck with it, Snetterton was the last straw when the turbo shat itself after having it rebuilt less than 1k miles before. when i got home and told the wife that was it, she said she would have outed it long ago
It was someone that was recommended to me, will have to look at my paperwork to remember who it was, thats why i went for a purpose unmodified turbo this time.
