Hi All, After following some interesting threads on some French forums, I decided to have a crack at installing RS Monitor on my 275 Nav. I was actually going to do this last week, but Amazon sent me the wrong part that I needed to modify the firmware As per the French forums It's actually reasonably straight forward - Essentially, you're changing 1 value in the firmware to enable RS Monitor and then a series of other values based on the car and the amount of power and torque it makes (these values are divided into 2 slots). The French forums have listed these slots for the 265, the 275 and various Clios. Any way, it's taken about an hour and a half, most of which time was taken up because I didn't realise the ignition needs to be on to read in the RLink firmware (otherwise it's switched off). If I'd have know that I'd have saved up to an hour. Photos of the process: https://photos.app.goo.gl/SdBttWg2eAFGKg9R6
Would this work on my 265 nav? It currently only has satnav. If so what do I need? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have a look at http://www.meganers.fr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=15621&start=80 and run it through Google translate. Tells you what you need, but you'll also need trim tools and a windows laptop
yep, I'm pretty certain you could. Mines standard though so I didn't need to. From what I've read the HP/Torque charts are calculated and based on throttle position, RPM, load etc rather than showing a true value. The modified graphs would probably look the same as a standard one just with higher values
I'm curious if you can fit an RS Monitor 2 to an RS Monitor 1 car It'd be nice to have the sat nav on the dash rather than having to stick my garmin to the windscreen every time.
Yeah I use my phone as a satnav but it would be nice to have a modern screen there and not lose my RS monitor.
I did a bit of digging and the 250 monitor and 265/275 monitor seem to have the same connector But whether they receive the same signals and it's just a plug and play upgrade I dunno
Mine just has the v1 monitor so I'd need the controls where the cup holder is. What is that like to retrofit?
Here's another link where somebody has put r-link into a 250 https://www.drive2.ru/l/486225758230937641/
You are a cleverer man than me. If I tried this I would almost definitely end up with a bricked nav unit.
The clever people are the ones on the French forum who worked it out, I just followed their instructions. Not saying it want a bit scary though!
I'm committed to unlock RS-Monitor 2 on my GT220 R-Link 1. Currently compiling information. Surprised that I didn't find a lot of info in English, found 2 howtos in French and Italian though. I'll update with my findings if I succeed.
I have the GT220 Premium, which unfortunately comes with the SatNav instead of the RS monitor, would like to know how you did it if you do!
I've done it on mine. StageX supplied the parts, you need a custom loom that adapts all the plugs, not too hard to install. Then just some coding required
Not sure what 'SatNav' means here. You can enable RS-Monitor if you have an R-Link 1 device on top of your dashboard. And now that you are asking... Yes! I finally managed to get RS Monitor in my R-Link . I will post soon a how-to as promised...
I just sourced a 265 facelift with TomTom nav, can this be sorted by stage X to have rs monitor we think? Ie just a flash or are parts required?
You'll also need the headunit, aux/usb box, bic box, centre console controls, and a custom loom made up.
In case anyone is interested, I wrote a guide on how to activate RS-Monitor on cars fitted with R-Link 1 units: https://rsmegane.com/threads/unhide-rs-monitor-v2-on-r-link-1.20402/
Really hoping you guys are still active. I'm stuck at this point. I'm trying to expose the green board to put the clip on. I've undone the hex screws and used a trim remover to unclip 2 clips at the bottom. But the backplate won't budge. Any advice?
