Trying to get the fuel rail out of my engine to swap injectors. all bolts out etc,but i simply cannot get the rail to move from either end. i soaked each injectors with WD40 last night hoping that would help,but even with a lot of force i cannot move anything. Being plastic,i am afraid i will damage or snap the rail if i keep yanking at it. i thought about getting a wooden prybar to prise..but again am afraid of damaging the rail. any ideas??
I can´t say you something that you had not do yet...if you are religious, pray and pull! Just joking Andrew, try to move it little by little from one side to other and pull. Sorry can´t be usefull!
looking at the rail on the right furthest side,the metal retaining clip for the injector,is barely on its plastic locating lug on the right hand side of the injector.So i suspect if i start yanking this end,the injectors just going to come awsy from the rail! can the metal clips be removed,so the rail can be taken out first?..didnt want to go messing with these clips in the bay,and more than likely it will fall into the engine bay.
you need to move the fuel forward and back, also left to right if you can, the "O" rings on the ends of the injector will be stuck into the manifold. You can pull the clips off and then pull off the fuel rail, or just pull, they will spring, i think they are there just to hold the injectors to stop them dropping out when refitting the fuel rail, they serve no other purpose
took the retaining clips of the injectors carefully,then the fuel rail come off the injectors easily. I had already soaked the injector o rings with wd40 the night before....and with just some gentle side to side movement..each individual injector came out easily.....infact i could have pulled them out with my fkn teeth. and yet pulling with massive force on the rail wouldnt budge them a inch. Just goes to show,if you can break the seal between the rubber and metal,it makes all the difference.
i did...had the rail back on in minutes....fkn hours messing around getting it off...minutes putting it back. at least its sorted the mpg...took a while to stop reading 14mpg..now back up to 27mpg.
Well that's a couple of hours well spent and not wasted, when was the last time they were taken out, never i suspect. What else were you going to do today
last out 9-10 years ago when everyones injectors seemed to be failing early on,so they have done ok. in reality though..they have only managed 30k miles before going wrong again!
you need to drive the bloody thing or are you keeping the mileage down for when you sell it Iv'e done over 12k in 18 months
I must admit the Mercedes didn't go out much last year, with all the track days i did in the Megane and having to work to pay for them, this year was going to be different, but now that changed
with me i suppose its always been kids eating all my time... but they are getting older now,so i have time to do stuff.
when my fkn mechanic eventually puts all the fkn parts of mine he has on the car like,flywheel,clutch rear beam bushes,roll bar bushes,sub frame bushes...and now it needs a long drive shaft,as the bearing half way up is shot,causing vibration with hard acceleration.
I think i have a used long drive shaft, will check tomorrow when i'm in the workshop. Shame your not closer, i'd do it for you, running out of things to do in the garden
