no not necessarily, you will need to look at the clutch if it's not spinning it's not working, the pulley spins all the time the engine is running, the air con pump doesn't run all the time, it will pulse when the air con is on, but should run for a couple of minutes when it's first switched on.

  5. so had mine running with the wheel arch cover of. looked at the front of the clutch pulley. aircon on or off it spins. rad fan on slow but no cool air?.

  6. see on the front clutch type usually have two or three what look like straps. mine doesnt its a smooth face pulley with what looks like a square nut in the centre

Can you take a picture of it, sounds like the clutch is broken, if you can send a pic i can then tell you if its good or not

i'm wondering if someone has stripped it in the past, is there still the plug and wire on the pump ???

  11. more like this one s-l1600 (2).jpg

  12. it has a two pin grey plug with what looks like a yellow wire and a blue wire.

same plug arrangement as pic above with the black wire going down to the round unit

i have not removed it yet but would say the one above is identical to mine

and this is the description of the one above on ebay

okay, thats the pump not working then, can you turn the shaft by hand, or put a spanner on it, it should turn easy

  18. right so. the centre moves freely as in the square nut. this is indeed a clutchless compressor. stripped battery out, top intercooler hose, and peeled some loom tape. the colours on the compressor are deffo yellow and blue 2 wires. but i could only find two wires in the harness that matched both yellow no blue doh.gonna need to send to renault for a diagnosis i think

  19. so to update. mate came up with renault clip/ everything is working just no cold air. compressor gates a signal and still nothing . so we are going to replace the compressor next couple of weeks. anyone done this. looks like a front end of job to me.real pain.lol

You might be able to get your hands in to get the bolts out, there are three long bolts that hold the pump onto the engine block, two 10mm headed bolts that hold the feed and return pipes to the pump and a electrical connector.

You will have to get the under tray off and go in from the bottom, if you can't get it off that way, it's going to be bumper off, intercooler off, radiator off and the crash bar, then you can get to the pump.

If you go back to the place that charged the air con, they can drain the system down and save the gas.

  21. cheers ian. thats what im doin. nick,s a friend who gassed it. so he will remove it for free he said. got the tray off. gonna remove oil filter and sandwich plate for cooler and go in that way. wheel arch liner off and belt of see how we go. will update when im done. probably a couple of weeks now.lol

  22. looking at it. the top aircon pipe will need to come off deffo but the bottom one on the flexi will be easier when i drop if off to remove

    should be doable though :sunglasses:
