Tpms fault megane rb8

  1. Realy struggling here fellas, been looking at the threads & see that some have had issues with car showing absent tpms on just one side. Both mine are showing absent on the nearside.Had them checked & all are coming back with codes & showing good voltage.Any help would be grateful.

  2. Hi, not sure if that helps but are they colour coded to each corner or they self learn their position?

  3. Self learn as far as I'm aware.Only had the car a couple of months & only done 100 miles since I got it.Had the timing belt & pulleys done at the garage & it came back with the absent sensors.Asked the mechanic if he had the battery off but he said that he hadn't.

MK3's are self learning, best to swap a couple of wheels around to see if the fault moves, you need to go for a drive mine takes up to a couple of miles, sometimes quicker though.

If the fault moves it's the sensor, if it stays on the same position its the pick up sensor.

  5. Thankyou, where would I find the pick up sensor?

I'm not sure, trying to find it in the Catcar catalogue but atm can't see it

  7. Had a look but cant see it either.Swapped wheels over & been out but showing exactly the same thing. 20200417_134344.jpg

It maybe that the internal batteries have gone then, the only way then is to replace them.

Has the car been standing not being used for any length of time ???

  9. Bought it from a land rover dealer & he told me that he had it for a while before I bought it,so its quite possible it's been stood.Had the sensors checked & all 4 gave out codes & showed good battery life.On the dash as you can see is showing no wheels on the nearside but on the drivers front I've taken the wheel off completely & its telling me low tyre pressure.

I'm not sure then, i bought a set of wheels and one wasn't working, i looked and it had been replaced with a standard rubber valve.
I didn't think they had to be coded either, as this set and the other sets of wheels read okay within a couple of miles driving.

Do you know anyone else around that you can swap there wheels onto your car just to see if that make any difference.

  11. Thankyou for your help,I realy appreciate you taking the time.My brother has a rs250 but I think we might have to wait until lockdown is over.Keep safe & thanks again.

    No problem mate

  13. Hi, same issue here. When I bought the car, it triggered immediately the TPMS sensor absent. It's annoying, always the orange light on the dashboard plus the alert every time I start the engine.

Since I don't feel TPMS a particularly critical feature, my preferred option would be to just disable TPMS (if at all possible). At least until I install new tyre valves, which won't happen until I need to replace the tyres. Looking at options to do this via OBD2 software, any hints will be appreciated.

  14. Reading some of the forums on this topic, they are saying that the system can only be disabled with clip. Some are saying that it's an mot failure if the system is showing a fault.Changed my wheels round & took the battery off over night & looks like its reset & back to normal.Hopefully I will be giving it a run tommorow,so let's just see what happens.

One of my wheels doesn't have a sensor in it, the other 3 do, as long as the other tyre pressures are where there they should be, i don't get any warnings on the dash, it shows a missing wheel on the display.

Did have a warning message once to slow down due to high tyre pressures :openmouth:, was booting it down the Autobahn though :laughing::laughing:
I also have a set of wheels without sensors and i get a warning that sensors "not detected" and not in yellow just white, then the display can be changed and it doesn't come back.

  16. Excuse my ignorance. What is 'clip'?

A Renault dedicated test / diagnostic program.

  18. Confirmed. Tried to disable TPMS with ddt4all but then I got an ERROR PROG in the dashboard. Switched it back in and error is gone, just stuck in the original 'Tyre pressure sensors absent' situation.

Time to look for other options like the aforementioned clip. Is that something one can install on a laptop PC and and interact with a standard ELM327 interface?

  19. Renault & only a few scattered garages have the program.Have you taken the battery off to see if it resets itself?Took mine out today,it is showing all wheels now but flagged up low tyre pressure on the nearside front.Put some air in & all of them & everything is working fine(for now).

I bought this (older version) got a mate to load it onto my laptop, i'm no good with computers so if you are young you should be okay :laughing:

  21. Actually not. But tried several times to reset it manually - it attempts to 'learn' the sensors again, stays silent for a while, but it eventually gives up and lights the TPMS bulb in the speedometer, which is quite annoying to me.

  22. If I was young(er) I would have gone after a true RS  That's an interesting toy, but way too expensive for the solely purpose to use it once to disable a light. Nothing against learning new stuff, but not in that level either. Thanks for the hint anyway

  23. Well that opened a can of worms, now its showing front nearside low tyre pressure.Deflated the tyre & deflated & it great until I get back in the car the day after.Might sell the car for spare parts ggggrrrrrr.
