How to unplug R26 trendline wiring harness?

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by andrewjeffs, Apr 18, 2020.

  1. Got a set of lowered runners for my Trendlines.
I am looking at the large multi plug under the seat to remove the wiring harness to it,but dont know how i seperate the 2 parts.
Dont want to start forcing it apart without knowing the correct technique.
also do i need to disconnect the battery?

  2. From memory, theres a piece that slides out, then you can separate them.

    Andrew
can you post a pick of the plug

  4. yep..one moment.
It has a seperate insert ,that i am sure needs to be pulled out to seperate the multi plugs...
just dont know how to get it out?

  5. Pretty sure you pull that bit out on the left.

Pull the bit on the left out, the plug will start to separate as you pull the locking part out

  7. On a slightly different note, last year i swapped my driver and passenger seats over to slow down the wear to the driver’s bolsters. It also made the drivers seat feel nice and tight and fresh again! It did take me a while because it was more involved than I first thought. However, as you’re removing your bases already, it might be worth looking at.

  8. slipped that green strip out, that goes all the way through the plug, but i still cant make it come apart?

  9. No, the grey bit on the far left.

  13. last fkn problem thaat i have wasted a hour on!..i just cannot get the plastic lug back in the holder.got the mechanism as far back as it will go..but even with pliers i just cant get enough slack to push the plastic lug into place.Starting to damage the plastic insert.wish i never bothered!

Sounds like a set of bucket seats are needed then :laughing:

  15. i sorted it in the end..the damn seat had slightly tilted forward, and i didnt notice until i turned the seats round.
Being tilted had pulled at the cable a fraction, which was enough to stop me having enough slack.
put the seat upright..on in seconds!!

you know with cars ian..nothing ever EVER runs smooth.

put a hour and a half on the job.
not the easiest things to swap round..but fk hasnt it made a difference to the seating position.Feels very odd to start with, but after a few miles you realise just how much more all round vision you have.

was that an essential journey, i'm sure it must have been :laughing::laughing:

I sort of learn't now, if it works leave well alone, unless your bored or have plenty of time and money to fix it when you think its broken :pensive:

  17. seems very strange that you cant drive a car unless its `essential`.
how can you come into contact with anyone in a car?
and yet you can que up outside with dozens of people at supermarket, downwind!

looks like half the fkn coutrys going back next week anyhow..even though we are still at peak levels!
money once again, does all the talking.

I know it does seem a bit strange, i will be going down the workshop next week, going to do some bits to the car, not sure what yet, but as i can't go to work, (mainly due to my parts suppliers being closed), i will also do some tidying up in there also.

By being down there i doubt i will see no one, but i will be out of the house, done as much gardening as i can atm, just watering left to do :laughing::laughing:

  20. i bought mine from someone on here..think its john foz who sells them.
and yes they make a huge difference to the height.
about half the size of the original seat mounts,so you sit so much lower.
Really feels odd at first, but your brain quickly adjusts. You can now look right out the center of the windscreen, which is great for all round straight ahead visibility.

As stated a bit of a faff taking them all apart, with some tricky bolts,in tight places, and with the usual brilliant renault combination of torx fixings etc.You will also have to bend the seat slider arm, for it to clear the far lower seat.

i also noticed, its harder now to see the speedo etc,as you are looking through the steering wheel now, rather than down.

So far though, with just a very limited drive..it seems a very worthwhile mod.

It was Jon Foz, i did get in contact with him to see if he was doing bases for the mk3, he was planning on it but there were greater demands for Golfs and other stuff.

Do the job yourself JJZ, sure i/we can talk you through this

Just get one of Halfords professional socket sets, the middle one, when they come on offer there 1/2 price, they also have a lifetime warranty.
Will have 95% of the tools required to totally strip the car to its component parts.

I'm not going to get you to strip the engine, not this week anyhow :laughing::laughing:

There's not great discount on them atm, a few times they offer 50% discount

Seat belts aren't that bad to do, just getting some trim bits off can be a bit taxing.

but i can talk you through that
